I was just about to order the linens for our wedding and I just want to double check others opinions about this. My fiance and I have chosen a purple color for our wedding, as the room (that you can see below) is very gold. The overlay has little bits of gold on it, and we saw it set up yesterday for us, it looks lovely on the example table. Its a large room and will only have 12 tables of guests, one sweetheart table, and cake table but I can't help but feel that maybe it could be a little overwhelming.Sorry the pictures are all over the place our linen lady has an oddly set up websitehttp://flickr.com/photos/25239282@an...Table cloth (not overlay!) Our chair cushion covers will also be in this color. Hemmed to floor length.http://flickr.com/photos/25239282@an...Overlay and chair covers. Its actually not as gold as it looks on the photo. Mostly clear beading with a little gold.http://flickr.com/photos/25239282@N05/2421599618/in/photostream/Reception room (including chairs)For some reason the links aren't working right try thesetablclothhttp://flickr.com/photos/25239282@N05/2431233960/overlayhttp://flickr.com/photos/25239282@N05/2430420203/Actually the only reason we choose such a dark color is because the room looks so big because it is so full of light, high ceilings, and bright colors.I am just afraid the purple might be too outlandish of a color.

Personally, think purple is the wrong way to go. Room will be very dark then. I think the white or a light color is best.

i think it will be very pretty... but if the room will be dark be sure to have candles on the tables Smile best wishes!Edit: go with the purple.. i think it looks amazing.. but if you really are not fond of it maybe do a white chair cover with purple accent...

I love it. It will make the room look smaller and Dark but if it's a night wedding then it's perfect. If it's a day time wedding then you might want to reconsider the color. I love the chair covers and overlay. It's super pretty. If you feel it's overwhelming then it probably is. You know your guests the best and you know what you want. If it's what you want then go for it, if you feel it's just not quite right, then don't! I think it's beautiful, but I've always loved darker colors and Gold. Good luck!

I'm not a fan of the purple and gold color-combo. It's quite loud. I'd stick with white table cloth with the gold-overlay, and white chair cover. Then have purple accents for chair decor, napkins, centerpiece. I think royal blue and gold go well-together, but it sounds like your purple theme is already set.

Hi Kathleen and congratulations on your upcoming wedding:To be quite honest, I LOVE the room done exactly as it is pictured. It is nice and bright. I would keep it that way. I love the white tablecloths at that height (meaning, I don't like the tablecloths to the floor as you are considering.)I would not waste my money on chair covers either. The chairs in the room are elegant and nice! If you are having dark purple as one of your "colors" (bridesmaid dresses?), and you want to pull this color into your tables, then why not use dark purple flowers for the centerpieces? You could also see if you could get dark purple cloth napkins if you want. But really, I would not mess with that room AT ALL. It is so beautiful as it is!! Just my opinion......

If you want purple, tone it down a little bit. I really can't picture that purple in that room.maybe something like this color (not design or anything)http://www.giftsunusual.com/Images-3/35022%20Gold%20Trim%20Purple%20Tablecloth%20With%20Tassels.jpgBy the way, I think purple in general is a good choice for the roon.

If you are going for elegance then I would stick to the room as it is. If stark white isn't you thing then go for a softer ivory linen. Keep the purple to the napkins or even just the flowers in the centerpieces, anything more than that and it will be overpowering.

I would just have white or ivory table cloths/ linens for the tables. I think less is more in this instance seeing as the room is already quite ornate. If you have either of these choices I think the room would have too much going on. I would just go something plain.
