My wedding is less than 3 months away (August 8th), and I was just informed today by my mother that the bakery we're getting our cake through does not have a three tiered, silver plated cake stand that will hold cupcakes on the bottom two tiers and a small round cake on the top. I have looked all over the internet and I can find three tiered cupcake trays but they have the foundation or "pillar" holding the tiers above each other going right through the top making it impossible to use a small round on the top. The only other silver plated cake things I've been able to find thus far is a silver plated footed base which are nice but no dice without more tiers.Does anyone know where I could find one, preferably to rent but will buy if I have to, in Des Moines, IA or online? I would even use a footed silver plated base and a three tiered glass one if someone could show me what I needed and how to put it together.Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!Thank you in advance!!!My cake will look a lot like these do. I want the stand to do the same thing...http://design-wedding-cakes-pictures.blogspot.com/2006/10/elegant-unique-wedding-cupcake-pictures.htmlhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/82515593@N00/1385137313/

Try a local bakery supply store, ebay, flea markets. The best place to start though would be a cake/bakery supply.

Why don't you e mail or call the people that have those pics posted on the internet and ask where they got the stand or do they have one for sale. The one pic had a phone number with it. Calm down, all with turn out ok.

My first recommendation is to go to www.cakecentral.com. get yourself a free membership, and post your question on the discussion board in the appropriate category. Cakecentral is a gathering place for many talented professional as well as amateur cake decorators. Someone there surely will be able to help you find the stand you are looking for specifically, and if they are not able to then you will have to obviously get creative and make some compromises about your cake stand. It is still possible to have a beautiful set up the way you describe. You can Have square boxes made, or for that matter you can use something like round hat boxes, in 4 different sizes, decorate them with fondant icing or wrapping paper or lace or however will coordinate with your decor, and stack your cupcakes/cake accordingly. I will find a picture for you to give you an idea what that will look like. Still very elegant.Edit/add: here's one site that explains how to make your own: http://www.cakejournal.com/archives/how-to-make-a-cake-stand-for-cupcakes-or-mini-cakes/

This one isn't silver "plated" but you can get it in silver and the tiers come apart, so you can take off the top one, which is too small for a cake...http://www.cakesbysam.com/store/cart.php?target=product&product_id=22115&category_id=284

First of all - what kind of bakery can make the cake, but not have the stands to go with them??Anyways, something similar happened to me when I was throwing my friends baby shower you can go about it two ways:1. You can go to another cake store in the area and rent one or 2. (and this is the option I ended up doing) if you have a really creative person in the family, get them to whip one up for you. My dad made mine out of wood, but you can use perspec, or other cake boards with plastic tiers. Alot of this can actually be found and sold separately in the cake stores themselves
