| my husband's job is giving a Winter party on a sat. eve. instructions are to wear cocktail attire. dresses for ladies and suits for men. | Coctail dresses can be long as well. Just as well as it's formal and elegant it's fine. |

| They can be long. People just tend to associate cocktail dresses as being short. |
