The point of a rehearsal is to thank your bridal party for being in your wedding. Usually there is a rehearsal at the church the evening before the wedding, so it won't bother your bridal party to get treated to a nice dinner after they are already out. I know some people who didn't have a rehearsal dinner but just went to a bar to chat it up before the wedding instead. I would suggest you do something, even if it's just buying your close friends and family a drink. You will be glad you did because you will also want to be around them for moral support, because you will probably be feeling anxious or nervous before your big day.

I'm surely not going to have one. First of all because of my culture. It is not a hispanic tradition to have a rehearsal dinner. And secondly, I believe it's a waste of money because you are already going to be hosting a dinner the following night. What we've always done (at least in my family) is the day before the wedding, the bridal party goes to the venue/s and rehearse who is going to walk down in what order and when. But no food or fancy party is involved.

i'm going to have one in august when i get married. Nothing fancy i will get a restaurant around my home and have it there. I'm going to have one because this is where you thank everyone and give the bridal party their gifts.

It's really up to you, but everybody has to eat. I don't think it has to be a big deal, just a meal. What I did was make a pot of chili before we went to the rehearsal.

Rehearsal dinners are a way to say thank you to everyone involved. No, they aren’t required, but if you are having a wedding rehearsal, don’t you think your party members deserve something for giving you their time and making arrangements to be there? It’s like “Hey, please come practice for my day, and then get the heck out because I’d rather be somewhere else.” Doesn’t sound very nice, does it? I got married on a Friday so I changed it up a bit. I wasn’t going to expect out-of-town party members to come in a day early just for this so we had a late morning rehearsal the day of and then served sandwiches in our hotel suite at lunch time.

His parents are hosting the rehersal dinner for us. We will probably just have a BBQ and snacks... play some horse shoes with the bridal party and parents. Have a couple drinks and give the bridal party their gifts. I think its a good idea. You are only supposed to get married once. You should make the most memories as you can out of it.

yes you have to have one. you are expecting everyoen to come out to rehearse your wedding so the very least you could do is treat them to dinner!!
