Hi Everyone! I just want to know if this is really popular, Brides are mixing it up so much now. I would like to just go out with a friend or two so I can relax. I don't want to really be bother with a Rehearsal Dinner.I never been to a wedding, so would i be missing something special by not having a rehearsal dinner? Our wedding is on a Friday so the rehearsal is on Thursday I know people are going to be tired from working all day and dealing with their children. So that is also on my mind to not really bother with it at all. What would you suggest? Thanks!

I did have a rehearsal dinner simply because I thought it was a great way to thank everyone for being in our wedding. It was great to spend time with all of those people while just relaxing.

The rehearsal dinner is one of the ways to thank your bridal party, and whoever else may be involved in your wedding. It's also the time to discuss last minute details and plans for the wedding day. I wouldn't skip it, but maybe have it the weekend before hand instead.

No we didn't. It's just not done in our area, or amongst our family/friends.Our rehearsal was at 7 p.m. the night before the wedding, and after that my sister hosted all of us to come to their home for drinks and snacks - just a bit of time to unwind. So I think it would be good to do something informal like that.

Rehearsal dinners are usually for your out of town guests and close family and bridal party. It can be a big event at a fancy restaurant or it can be at a BBQ house party. It is just something for your guests from out of town to do if they come in for your wedding the day before. And it also allows you to get to talk to your out of town guests and close family before the big day where it'll be much harder to have intimate conversations with everyone.I would say have something. Whether it be big or small.

I did have a rehearsal dinner. It is a nice way to thank your bridal party as well as your out of town guests for attending the wedding. It also calmed me down a bit to be around family and friends the night before the wedding rather then just sitting at home waiting for the minutes to go by. I would at least offer to take your guests out for a nice dinner after the rehearsal to relax. If they do not wish to attend then they don't have to...

Here's what I did: I went out with a few friends for a drink before the rehearsal dinner and then did the dinner because it was expected by my husband's parents. Traditionally, it's the husband's family that hosts the rehearsal dinner. But you can have one anywhere -- casual, formal, or funky.

A lot of brides are having their rehearsal and dinner a couple days before the wedding to avoid the whole "night before" stress. The last 3 weddings I have stood up in were on Sat, but the rehearsal was on thursday. Honestly, those were the best way to do it. Everybody was then able to relax the day before and not have to worry about rushing home to get the last minute stuff done.

We aren't because our wedding is on a tight budget. We plan on thanking everyone in a short speech at the reception, and giving our attendants their gifts at that time. You really aren't missing out on anything, it's just another dinner with the people you will be seeing the next day anyway.I suggest saving yourself the expense and the hassles, and don't have one! Good luck!

I think that when I got married people got way too carried away with rehearsal dinners. It was like a second wedding reception. Lately, I have seen many young couples opting for Pizza and Beer for the wedding party and parents. It makes more sense, the next day is going to be busy enough without being exhausted.

Some people do and some don't. With the outrageous amounts for the wedding, who can afford the dinner?

They arent absolutely necessary, but after the rehearsal itself, it's a nice way to take everyone out and feed them and thank them for coming to rehearsal and participating in the wedding, it's also a good time to give gifts.I think they are nice to have, even though it can be kind of hectic cause everyone that will be in the wedding will be there

i know a bunch that didn't do it and it was fine - but when my sil had her wedding (a wedding party of 12 total) for some reason it got confusing and if we hadn't rehearsed the ceremony we would have screwed up the order going down the isle (they had it planned so the moh went first, then the last person...and the couples weren't in the same order... and way too many people trying to put their two cents in... it was a mess) at least we all got dinner after!
