My fiance and I are hosting a wedding in October of 2008. We would love to have a wedding theme that is different than the standard "autumn leaves" that one typically sees in October. We are potentially having a more "urban sophisticate" type of event and love the prints (ads) by Leonetto Cappiello. I think there is potential there to create a theme around this type of art and the overall fun quality of those prints but haven't been able to nail down anything solid. Any ideas on how to incorporate that into decor, invitations, favors, music, etc?

hello there Ms soon to be. First of all best wishes to you guys. Which is the proper thing to say when getting marriend and for having a child. Anyone whos shallow enough to say "congradulations" is up there with "asl". Congrats is like say "what didnt think I could do it?". Now for your marriage theme i have the absol, ute perfect thing. Now this Song is very powerful, and has several ups and downs that will just lift yours as well as everyones heart in the sky. No matter what mood your'e in this will set a sothiung blissfulness, and at the end, will have you in joy and at peace with everything and everyone. Promise. It's called "rhapsody Of a theme" or real close to that. By "Rachmoninoff" or real close to that. Its also the theme song to the movie "Somewhere in time" also a fantastic movie that will leave u in tears. Thanks and besh wishes to you girl. Thanks Frank.

Where I live lots of people get married in art museums, so maybe that would help, especially if you could marry in an art deco wing.If not you can you get the ads silk screened on to fabric and use the fabric to decorate walls (like a few panels of the art on each wall), pillars, tables, etc. You can take a color scheme from one of hte paintings, and have a painting on the outside of your program.Favors you could get your favortie print done onto a bunch of mugs with the date of your wedding and your names.

Art Deco was in the 20s-late 30s so consider having a costume reception where everybody tries to dress like the time period. Play music from that era as well. Art Deco was really famous for its architecture so name your tables after famous Deco buildings and paintings and include a picture of it on the table marker. (Example Chrysler Bulding)It was alot of laquer and mirrors so consider that when making your choices. Color pallates were bright and intense or very neutral (tans, blacks, browns, whites )so choose from that thought. Lots of geometric shapes, stright lines, or diagonals (people get this confused with the Art Nouveau which was very curvy and organic and was a response to Art Deco)Design focus was more on solid blocks of color and sort of illustrated feel like rather than realistic and textured look. You can take your favorite Art Deco peice and give it to your baker and she will help you with a cake design inspired by it. Favors you can give out copies of books on Art Deco either from Barne's and Noble or you can easily choose information on the period and make your own. People called back on the classic greek and roman but a big influence was city life so the urban look would definately work. Feathers and crystals over many flowers and is definatly Art Deco.
