| ...or would you rather have something else? A lot of people I know have had very simple receptions, typically the whole church fellowship hall cake and punch and mixed nuts scenario. It's a regional/cultural thing, so just go with me here. One thing that always cracks me up about these parties is the punch. I don't understand the attraction of sherbet, juice, and 7up, and I certainly don't understand how that's "fancy."So. Let's say you're at a wedding where no alcohol is served (except, you know, among groomsmen in the parking lot). Would you rather have drink options like fresh lemonade, good iced tea, and coffee or would you rather drink some pink fizzy concoction? |

| Give me the fizzy pink concoction any day! Haha, seriously, I don't know what it is but there are some damn good punches out there. I admit that I've NEVER had or even seen punch at a wedding... but I would drink it if there was! I'm not much of a fan of lemonade and pop, coffee, juice, etc, I can get any time. As long as it's not super fruity/sugary, punch is great. And yes, I know it's weird that I like it! |

| I agree, punch isn't fancy. I'd choose some fresh lemonade any day. |

| Personally, I think it depends on the punch. I've had some AMAZING punch at weddings, but I've also had some crappy punch, too.If I could decide, though, I'd like lemonade or iced tea.I think people use punch because it's universally acceptable among all age groups. Children, teenagers, and adults can all drink it. |

Ummm. I like the punch. It just seems to be a wedding staple. dont know why, I just expect it. Although punch here is more of a ginger ale, 7 up, fruit juice, fruit salad and ice type of thing.Tea and coffed you can have anywhere and anytime but punch is something that you have to wait for a wedding before you get to enjoy it. ha ha. Dont know why.Anyways at my wedding I am having both punch and alcohol and tea and coffee.Good luck with your day. |

| I like punch, and think it's special because it isn't something you can get anyday. I can get a glass of lemonade or iced tea anytime anyplace, but that's just not the case with punch! You know if someone is serving punch, it's a special occasion.I know punch/cake receptions are common in some areas of the country, but I/ve never attended any wedding like that myself. What I don't understand is the nuts. Why serve nuts? I can see the dessert/punch or dessert/coffee combo, but why adding nuts to the mix? If it's just as a not-sweet snack, why is it always nuts? Why not pretzels or cheese crackers? |

I've been trying to push the Cake and Punch reception back into the trend!! Punch is good but don't put sherbert in it!! Instead, make gallons of "Shirley temples" Use lemon lime soda or ginger ale and grenadine or frozen concentrated cherry juice. It's pretty, light and fancy! Make an ice ring with fruit in it and it steps it up a notch. for that get a jello mold, lay orange slices or grapes or berries or pineapple rings etc into the bottom, fill with club soda or the lemon lime and freeze. It takes a while for it to melt and when it does people get a piece of fruit with their punch!! I'd make about 4 rings to cover 2 hours worth .Hooray for the simple Punch & Cake reception! Guess what you're just as married as the fancy sit down meal receptions and a lot less poor!!! lolbest wishes....................... |

I actually like that punch recipe I do like the idea of options, but I wouldn't exclude the punch. |

| I hate that stuff! It's way popular here with the LDS crowed. I preferr leomonade or Italian sodas! Both excellent relacements! Or in winter Hot chocolate. Some churches though wont allow members to consume coffee teas caffine or anything "Hot" on property though. Which is why that nasty concoction is popular! |

| A wedding reception is about the only place one can get served punch anymore. I'd go for it! |

| I have to say that I am from Northern NJ and have never seen this punch in my life. Or drank it. So I would choose it just for the experience. But that being said is it unheard of to have all kinds of drinks? I might not know what I am talking about. Is punch a one drink only kind of thing? |

| Nearly every wedding I have been to has only served sherbert punch. Not coffee or sodas or anything else. While I do like punch, even sherbert punch but I don't consider it fancy, I would like the option of having other drinks available in addition such as lemonade or iced tea. That way those who love punch can drink it and those who prefer coffee or lemonade can drink that as well. |
