No, it is a wedding not a showcase for your talents. Please don't.

I just married February 14. The thoughts of my wedding are fresh in my mind. You need to know if your personality can go outside the box - I mean make your tradition. Think of your wedding as a big party -- and remember that feelings you hurt inside the family can last a lifetime. Yours included. So ask your groom if it bothers him, if not...GO FOR IT!!!CONGRATULATIONS

I think it might be a bit strange, it would look like you are trying to get more attention than you are already getting....unless you play it off as a musical "gift" to your husband or something.

I challenge you to sing something in Carrie Underwood's range at your own wedding! record it, put it on youtube, post the link for honest opinions first.

I would not sing during the ceremony but I would sing (if I had a voice) at my reception. Lot's of people dedicate things at their receptions to their new spouses. Sometimes it's poetry, sometimes it's a story, sometimes it's music. If you're talented go ahead and show you're stuff. As far as the young lady with cancer you can ask her anyway. She may be honored that you asked her and not stressed out at all. Just let her know that you would love for her to do it if at the time she is up to it and you will wait until the day before for her to confirm yes or no. Just leave the ball completely in her court.

Honestly, I don't think this would be a great idea. You're going to be so wracked with nerves and emotion the day of your wedding that you'll barely be able to squeak out your vows, much less take on Carrie Underwood! I totally believe you when you say you're able to, I just think the odds in the stress of the day coming out in your voice are a little too high. Perhaps you could sing to him during the reception? By then, you will have wound down a lot from the ceremony and the atmosphere will be much more relaxed.

Well, I don't know if you'll be able to sing and light the unity candle at the same time. That could be awkard, especially if you're the emotional kind that gets affected by sentimental things like unity candle lighting. Maybe instead of a "live" song, you can have someone (either you, your MOH, or the girl from church) record themselves singing and then have that played during the lighting? That wouldn't be stressful and you could give them recognition in your programs and/or your thank-you speech at the reception.

I shot a wedding where the groom (a guitarist) sang & played a self-written song to his bride during the wedding. You should've seen the tears of joy she had. After the song, they lit the candle.I've also seen bridal party members play an instrument and/or sang during the ceremony as well. It's your wedding. Do as you please. What would be more special than to sing to the man you love and are marrying??
