If someone just wanted a maid of honor, best man, ring bearer and flower girl then that would be alright wouldn't it?If they decided to have more than the above then would it be stupid for each girl in the wedding party wear a different shade of blue since blue and ivory are the brides colors...What do you think?

With blue I dont think it would look all that bad because blues all compliment each other, as opposed to colors like reds which can clash easily. However, if you have different colored dresses you should have them in the same dress style otherwise it wont look right, it could possibly come off as looking like 3 women just decided to stand next to you.

It might not be appreciated by all of your guests, and you might have to do a little explaining but I say who cares? It's your wedding, do things how you want!

In my opinion uniformity looks good in a bridal party simply because it keeps the focus on the bride and groom and not their friends. It is the couples day after all. I think they should stick to the same shade of blue and just let them pick their own style dress. Like I said it is just my opinion I wouldn't let everyone wear whatever they felt like for my wedding (if they are in the bridal party that is). It just looks classy to have some uniformity. I hope this helps. :0)

When I married, I let my maid of honor chose her own dress. I don't like those bridal party dresses, and I wanted my maid of honor to feel comfortable and pretty. I didn't have anyone else in the bridal party but her, but she looked absolutely beautiful and I could tell she appreciated being able to wear something that could be actually worn at another occasion, and not stuck away in a closet.

Hi. No matter the size of the bridal party, I would try to keep them in the same "color family." If the colors are blue and ivory....that is easy! Let the maid of honor and the flower girl's mom pick a "blue" dress. I would assume the best man and ring bearer will be wearing either a tux or a suit? If you wanted....they could wear a blue tie...and the groom can wear a tux/suit with an ivory tie. That would look really nice.Good luck!

I'm getting married in February of '09, and I'm going to let my bridesmaids and maid of honor wear different styles of dress, but they're going to be the same color. And yes, it would be perfectly fine if you just wanted a maid of honor, best man, ring bearer and flower girl in the wedding party. It's your wedding, it can be as big or little as you want it to be. Smile

Of course it wouldn't be stupid, regardless of the number of bridesmaids. Just make sure the colors harmonize...I'm actually doing the same thing.

I didn't have a flower girl or ring bearer, but we did have only a maid of honor and best man. I didn't want my maid of honor to have a dress that she'd never wear again, so I told her to chose a dress she liked, just that it had to be some shade of blue. Personally, I think it's funny looking to have all of the maids wearing the same dress. Our colors were shades of blue and silver. I didn't care what shade of blue, just as long as it belonged to the blue family. Ours was a larger wedding but it wasn't terribly formal, so no matching members of the wedding party.

absolutly not, first and for most do not forget that this is your big day and it can be any way that you want it to be. At my wedding my colors were chocolate brown and copper orange, the groomsmen all wore orange, my bridesmaid and maid of honor did not match at all, Maid of honor worn all chocolate with a orange sash, it was a halter and mermaid skirt. Bridesmaid wore a one piece copper dress and no chocolate, it really looked good in the end, and didn't look sloppy or too unified. It looked very classy, if you worried about the colors being to far off, tie in a little of the opposite color, for example if the maid of homor is wearing dark blue, have her wear a lighter blue sash and visa versa to tie the look together. Congrats!

no. I let my bridesmaids wear whatever they wanted to, as long as it wasn't short or low cut enough to make my conservative grandparents have a heart attack. They ended up color- coordinating so they all wore blue, and they were very grateful because I didn't make them wear matching dresses that don't flatter anybody,
