| it depends if they are asking just to one-up you or if they just want to know to compare prices but overall i think it's okay. |

| Yes - I'd think so. It's better to be the friend NOT to ask but to tell her how lucky she is.Anyways - if you did ask she is going to lie and tell you it was 3 x more than it really was... |

| i don't think its rude, i think its a compliment. its saying, "hey, your wedding ring is beautiful, i wonder if i could afford something as gorgeous"... but then again i've never had someone ask me.. |

| If they don't offer I would say not ask...some people are weird about it...and if they are not shoving it in your face then they probably would rather not tell......but if you are really curious just ask.....♥ |

| YES it is very rude. Its like comparing. What if that person's boyfriend couldnt afford much it would be an embarrasment. I am sure if it cost a lot then they would probably spill the beans about it |

| Actually it depends, if it's a close personal friend you might ask or get a ballpark or appraisal number.Otherwise, yes, it's not appropriate. |

| extremely rude! if you are that curious as to how much it costs, why don't you go to a jewlery store and take a look at the rings they have and the prices... it'll give you an idea... but NEVER ask someone how much something like an engagement or wedding ring costs. |

| This is inapporiate if you do not know the person that well or if in a public event if it is your bes friend or really close friend or family member in a private setting and you know the fiancee does not mind than its completley just like girl talk. |

| hmm, this varies from culture to culture. In asian culture, or at least the way I was brought up, its not rude. If I genuinely wanted to know, I'd ask. I ask my friends how much they pay for rent all the time because I'm interested in moving out soon. No harm if they are willing and not uptight. |
