I've got four months to plan my wedding (YIKES!!!!) so Mom is helping me. My fiancee is English (most people don't know because he came to USA at age 15 and worked hard to erase his accent) and I've always been a girlie girl who loves teacups and tea pots, so Mom suggested having them as center pieces at the reception. Is that weird? Should people take the pots home? Should the teapots match? Should I put flowers in them? Tea baggies? Leave them empty? Also, where can I buy at least 12 teapots for cheap?Sharon - I appreciate your honesty even if you do think it's weird. I want to make a good decision!

I think it's a very cute idea. I would put flowers in them that way it would match. You can always go on ebay and see if you can get some cheap teapots that match.

Since you want honesty, my opinion is that is a little weird. Why not a simply flower arrangement or candles? I just don't really find tea pots romantic or associate them at all with a wedding. Just my opinion though. If they are you're thing then go for it!

Dear Person, Don't put tea bags on the tables, or teacups. Put the people on the tables, and teabag them.

I like the teapot idea, 100% better than the Betta in a Bowl centrepiece.("'(o.o)/"')

It could work if it were an afternoon wedding, garden party, type thing, but if it's in the evening at a restaurant or banquet hall or something, I think it would seem odd. I think it would probably work better for a shower than a wedding.

I think it's a super cute idea. you can give them away at the end of the reception as is usually done- whoever's bday at each table is closest to your wedding date gets to take it home. fill it with an assortment of tea bags, no flowers.

I think it would be very whimsical, maybe you could even have teacups with small flowers in them. And lots of candles around. I think the key here is that since its an unusual centerpiece, that not everything has to match...You could put flowers in them...or even hot tea?http://www.patsyterrell.com/images2/20070811hospiceoverall.jpghttp://www.patsyterrell.com/images2/20070811hospiceoverall.jpg(scroll down a bit there)http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hgtv.ca/summer/images/flow_img_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hgtv.ca/summer/summer_flowers.aspx&h=342&w=802&sz=63&hl=en&start=2&sig2=oy7Ztxr9XP1hPhbbPXk1gg&um=1&tbnid=IyyBTXY0UsSHkM:&tbnh=61&tbnw=143&ei=2pzzR-mTH4nCeaHGpIcB&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dteapot%2Bcenterpieces%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DNhttp://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.petalpurrfect.com/photos/02_05_teapotlg.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.petalpurrfect.com/brochure2.html&h=200&w=300&sz=31&hl=en&start=21&sig2=DRgQj1Oj0_vOGtkMf2XV_g&um=1&tbnid=JbgS1jPbhpSDIM:&tbnh=77&tbnw=116&ei=_pzzR6yBFZ7Eeu6RtX0&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dteapot%2Bcenterpieces%26start%3D20%26ndsp%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DNsome inspiration

I think teapots would look really pretty on your tables. You could fill them with flowers in your wedding colors. They wouldn't have to match. If there are any Thrift Stores (Goodwill or Salvation Army), try to find them there. Those stores usually have teapots and they're super cheap. I think that's a really great and original idea. You could also buy some teacups and put votive candles in them to add to the decor. Good luck. I'd love to see some pictures if you do go with this unique idea for your wedding! Also, if you bought the teapots or teacups cheap enough, you wouldn't have to worry if some of your guests took some home with them. If there are any yard sales or garage sales in your area, you might want to check out those too.

Teapots would be the perfect centerpiece if you were going for a Victorian-themed garden party reception.I think the idea would work better if you used several types and colors of teapots instead of having all the same. You could put flowers in them, that would look very nice. You can definitely find decorative teapots for cheap (but be forewarned that the functional quality won't be very good - they're better for decoration).

Teapots can be elegant and look nice even though they aren't what are considered "usual" centerpieces. My mom collects teapots and has many. I don't think they have to look the same and actually think different ones for each table is a good idea. Just make sure you find quality teapots. There are a lot of cheap ones out there and they look cheap. When it comes to things like this, cheap looks cheap. Since my mom collects them I've seen the difference in quality and how much that can cost (she gets all her teapots new though). Some of her most beautiful teapots cost hundreds of dollars. To save money try looking on ebay or at flea markets. Second hand stores might have something for you and ebay certainly will have something. Look for the ones you like and hopefully you'll find a deal. I considered using teapots as centerpieces. We had considered having a tea in the afternoon for our reception before changing our plans. If you like them then use them. They don't have to be filled with flowers unless you want that. Maybe have a small vase of flowers beside them.
