I am thinking about buying a "brushed" wedding ring for my fiance.I have heard, though, that the brushing wears off over time.Is this true?

Brushing gold (or any metal) is done by scoring the metal with many tiny scratches, which over time would be buffed off by contact with other stuff, such as adjacent fingers. You should, however, be able to find a jeweler who will re-brush the metal for you.
