After you get married and you, and your new husband, make your way to the reception party do you or can you still wear the wedding dress? Is it traditional to or is it traditional to change into a different outfit for the party?

It depends on what you what to do. I think it is becoming more common to change into a different dress. Me, I am wearing my dress! My wedding is at 6:00 p.m. and reception will follow.

After all the money you spend on a wedding dress, I think somebody would have to be crazy not to wear it to the reception, no matter what tradition dictates. I wore mine.

It is tradition to wear your wedding dress to the reception. I have heard though of a few brides that could not make up their mind and they got two dresses, one for the wedding and one for the reception. Or if they like dresses in color, but want to wear traditional white for the wedding they will get a dress of color for the reception. It is your day do whatever you want! I'm sure you will look beautiful either way.

You wear the wedding dress all day, unless you are a celebrity or a super rich person who can afford two dresses. Depending on your dress, many people bustle their dresses for the reception so you can boogie down.

I have never seen or heard of someone putting on something different. You pay all that money for the special dress, you will want to wear it. Not to mention that 75% or more of the pictures are taken at the reception.

generally you stay in your dress. if you think it's to heavy or large to stay in it all night then pick up a white dress to change in to after all important dances- you'll want to be in your dress for those pics!i was going to get one to change in to but the more i look at my dress the more i love it and the more i don't want to take it off!!

It is tradition to keep your wedding gown at the reception...just make sure to bussel it up so it doesn't get ruined. However, now a days you can do whatever you may like. Alot of people change into a different more comfortable dress for the reception.

When you go to the reception you are usually wearing the same dress that you wore to the ceremony. Although, a lot of brides like to have two dresses now a day...one traditional dress for the ceremony, and a non-traditional "party" dress for the reception...

I wore my dress all day, including reception. I mean, if I'm going to spend an arm and a leg for a dress, oh yes, I am wearing it to the reception.

i don't understand where all these people are saying that you have to be super rich to change your dress that's just stupid. i'm sorry. I'm changing my dress after i take all the pictures in my reception and the dances and cake cutting because my dress is big and we are having a party which means alot of dancing and i can't dance in my wedding dress and i'm not super rich to do that.

I wore mine all night, after the chunk of money you spend on a dress you only wear once, I wanted to wear it as long as possible.

Depends. No, you don't have to be rich to have two dresses.I might be wearing two. My wedding dress might be too heavy to dance in during the reception, so I might change into something lighter, but we'll see. My wedding dress is something I can wear again (it's not a traditional wedding dress, but very ornate) or I might sell it later. My choice for my reception dress, if I get one, will be $100, so it's not a huge expense, and I can wear it again too.Up to you. If you really love your wedding dress, I'd say keep it on for the reception, people can admire it up close.
