| so we are getting married on valentines day of 2009. im having a hard time picking out the flowers bc every flower i pick isnt in season. so this is what im thinking: groom: white calla bout w/ red ribbon around stemgroomsmen: red calla bout w/ black ribbon around stemdads: red calla bout w/ white ribbon around stemushers and ringbearer: red calla bout w/ black around stembridesmaids: Red lion amayllis with black ribbon around stemflowergirl: ???? moms:?????me: either bouquet of white peonies, camellias, carnations, jasmine, ranunuclus, or sweet pea. I need help. I want the feathery look to my bouquet. its going to be all the same flower and all white with a red ribbon around stems. what flowers are feb flowers? What flowers would fit my feathery look? What flowers should I do for the moms and flowergirls? Should I switch the callas to something else? If so, what? PLEASE HELP!i need to book now. i called 5 florists last week and they were all booked for my date- VALENTINES DAY! |

| Girl, you have over a year. Calm down!In mid Feb. of this year, go check out florists. Just window shopping, mind you. See what blooms are in season and what looks good together. Look at the Jan-Feb issues of the bridal mags for ideas.Don't forget to breathe!Edit -They are booked one year and three months in advance?!? WTF? That's the stupidest thing I've heard. Any place like that is going to be way too expensive, but if you want to spend thousands of dollars on flowers that are just going to die, that's your choice. |

I personally LOVE calla lilies and think they will be a wonderful choice. As for the the groomsmen, I would avoid the black ribbon. Their tuxes will most likely be black, so the ribbon will just blend in. The rest of the ideas you have are great. A new trend for the moms is that they're carrying their own mini-bouquet in lieu of a corsage. And the flowergirl doesn't necessarily need flowers. You could put flowers in her hair.As for your bouquet, I really like the calla lilies or ranunuclus. I would avoid carnations.Just a reminder--your wedding is a year and three months away. No reason to be panicking!  ) |

| Valentine's Day is the busiest day of the year for florists. Also many flowers are tripled in price for the occasion, regardless of whether they are in season or not.Your florist will have ideas on what works best with your budget and the look you're going for. If you're still looking for someone, check out the local chat boards at theknot.com since they are very helpful and they have more info than the magazines and ads do. |
