Hi all,I am getting married to my fiance who is Filipino. Our wedding is a very small wedding about 50 ppl and we are doing our ceremony and reception in my parents beautiful l backyard. Most of his family is in the Philippines, his mom and cousin are out here though and they will be attending. I am wondering what i can do to make my wedding have a little Filipino style to it. I was thinking maybe the cake or a special drink. Our food will be America and we are dressing American style as well. Any suggestions would be great. I would love for his mom to see us do something or have something from there culture.Thank you!!!By the way, we are both Catholics

i'm filippino, and i can tell you that any party or event being hosted by a filippino will have a buffet. we're foodie people, so ask your mother-in-law about filippino foods to have out. stuff like lumpia (spring rolls), panceit (noodles), casaba cake (leche). try looking for filippino market stores or try the goldilock's chain. good luck! (oh, and you can have the bridesmaids and groomsmen wear traditional filippino clothing)

Hi, that is nice of you to think of having something special for your mother-in-law. Yeah, we Filipinos love food like adobo and pancit. And also, we always have Lechon (Roast Pig) on special occassions like Birthdays, Fiestas and most of all, Weddings. The roast pig idea might be too much and you can't probably get it here. I suggest maybe adding a couple Filipino Menu. Maybe pancit and adobo, or maybe lumpia. you can probably find a Filipino restaurant around your area and you can order the food from there. We also got this tradition that during the couple's first dance as married couple, the guests will pin money on both the bride's dress and groom's outfit. Just be sure to bring the pins to pin the money with. Congratulations!
