Have you ever wondered exactly how you are supposed to address your wedding invitations? Here is the proper etiquette for formal wedding invitations.
Always write out full addresses, including streets and states:
123 Anyplace Boulevard
Saint Louis, Missouri 12345
List full names on the outer envelope, and titles with last names on the inner envelope. Write "and family" for children under the age of 16, or "and guest" if you are allowing your guests to bring their own date. If you do not want to invite children or dates, simply exclude those words.
For example, the Brown family has three children. John is 19, and you would like him to be able to bring a guest. Melissa is 16, and you do not think it is appropriate for her to bring a friend. Elizabeth is 14. You would write:
Outer envelope:
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Brown and Family, Mr. John Brown and Guest, and Ms. Melissa Brown
Inner envelope:
Mr. and Mrs. Brown and Family
Mr. Brown and Guest
Ms. Brown
That seem like a lot, but that is the guideline of "proper etiquette". Of course you may address your invitations as you prefer. If you have any unusual circumstances, I'm sure you can find information in a generic internet search.
I hope this helps! |
