Under what situations would you issue a refund to a customer?
Would you keep the photos you took or let the customer keep them?
What Type of Details are in your Terms of Sale? |

Each photographer sets his/her own policies, but I only offer refunds if extenuating circumstances were to take place. For instance, if I had to cancel the contract, I'd give a refund. If the bride cancelled her contract within 3 days (legal right of recision), I'd give a refund.
But if a bride were to cancel way past that time period, I wouldn't immediately offer a refund because she is cancelling her end of the deal. You could have lost potential bookings for the same wedding date during that time, so she would not be due a refund.
You could offer to see if you can rebook the date, in which case either a full refund or partial refund could be offered... but again, that's your call.
Be sure all this is specified in your contracts. |

| I would probably offer a partial refund. It's true that I could have booked someone else for that time and I'm not making the money that I could be, but I'm also not going to be doing any work for that time period either. |

We offer refunds on the following schedule.
- Up to a week after signing the contract, full refund.
- Before 2 weeks before the event, half refund.
- 1 week before event, 40% refund
- 3 days before event, 25% refund
Anything beyond that there is no refund unless there are extreme circumstances. |
