I am wanting to use glowing paper lanterns as decoration for my wedding reception and want to know if a 7w bulb is enough to make the lanterns glow. If so, what size worked, or have you made it glow with regular smaller christmas lights?I am thinking of using round paper lanterns in 12" and 24" sizes, with a white bulb. Thanks!7w bulb example: https://ssl.adhost.com/noveltylights/merchant.cfm?pid=271&step=4lantern options:http://www.asianideas.com/globelanterns.html

I have a bit of experience with paper lanterns, and I think a 7 watt bulb should light a paper lantern just fine if it's not too big or too dark a color. Luna Bazaar sells cord sets with 7 watt bulbs for use with paper lanterns: http://www.lunabazaar.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1229. They say a 20 inch lantern is the biggest size you should use with this kind of bulb. A 12 inch white lantern will look well lit; a 24 inch white lantern will look significantly dimmer, but may still be fine depending on the look you're going for. Maybe one easy way to brighten the bigger lanterns is to use a twist-tie to bunch 2 or 3 bulbs in each lantern. Hope this helps. Good luck!
