Photographers take pictures, cameras are tools. For weddings a Canon 1ds mark 3 or 5D or Nikon D3 would give full frame quality and full advantage of wider lenses for say indoor group shots. Flash's and tripod's would be good also.Would post links to the above cameras, you can find info on them at : www.dpreview.comGood luck.

Personally, I'd tell you that your technique and knowing how to take quality pictures is most important. Otherwise, I think a lot of cameras are basically the more expensive the better. There are probably cameras in stores that specialize in taking pictures of people and such. Go to a general photo store and ask. Those people can be smart.

A Nikon D40 or D80, if you budget allows it, would be nice entry level professional cams. Or the Canon Rebel series are also nice. If you really want to blow up pictures and have a pro cam - well I may be mistaken, but I think it's almost every photographers dream to hold a Hasselblad cam. Goodluck!

You don't have any idea what sort of camera you need? Sounds like you're not quite ready to throw your hat into the wedding photography ring just yet. The camera doesn't take a great picture, you do.Any entry level film or digital SLR would be a good start for a beginning photographer. My choice would be in the Nikon line, but really Canon, Olyumpus, Pentax or Sony would do fine as well. Do some research and go try on a few models and begin from there.

REALITY CHECK TIME!If you have to ask what camera and lenses and flash units to buy you are NOT ready to photograph a wedding. If you think there is one make and model of camera that "takes great pictures" then you are NOT ready to become a professional photographer. After you finish at least 2 years of photography classes and have worked as an assistant to a professional wedding photographer for at least 2 years (and been allowed to shoot some of the images) you MIGHT be ready to think about becoming a wedding photographer. At least you'll know what equipment to buy and how to use it.You'll also need to take some business classes since about 90% of your time will be devoted to running the business and only 10% will actually be doing photography.

Not a more true statement has been uttered than the ones from Ara and Edwin. There is more to wedding photography than just having a "good camera". If you need to ask about what equipment you need, then you are not anywhere close to being ready.Take a few years and study photography and wedding photography business practices. Work with an established professional and build up a portfolio and gain that invaluable knowledge only attainable through real world experience.

Wedding photography is the art of people management. The best camera is the one that never breaks. Look up repair rates to find your answer.
