I'm getting married at my Roman Catholic church this year. I know we are expected to give the priest a gift after the wedding ceremony and this gift is usually monetary. How much money should we give the priest? My church doesn't give any guidance on this because it is to be at the discretion of the bride and groom.

I know people who have given $1,200Seems pretty crazy to me, some churches already wants a tithe (10%), why should they get more than what you already give the church?Afterall bringing people into wedded bliss and closer to god is part of their job description.

There is usually a set amt that you are required to pay. I think my payment was $150.00.

I am getting married in a Catholic Church and our church says $100 to the priest, plus tips for the altar servers. Also you have to pay the organist, soloist their fee. This is on top of the fee that you pay to use the church.

at our catholic church, they make you pay $300 for the marriage prep, church wedding coordinator, and priestbut in ettiquette books, anywhere from $100-$500 is appropriate depending on your diocese, parish, income, etc...

My church "requests" a $250 "donation" from all couples being married in the facility. I will also probably get a gift specifically for the priest himself, but it will just be something small, more as a token of our appreciation. If you want the gift to be monetary, it will need to be as an additional donation to the church; I don't know that priests are allowed to accept monetary gifts (the vow of poverty and all), and I'd bet he would appreciate a donation to the church even more.

When I got married we were asked to make a donation of $150 to the church. Don't forget to give something to your altar servers- we gave ours $10 each.Parish priests do not take a vow of poverty, BTW.
