Our wedding planner started out very helpful and knowing that we were on a limited budget she said if we went with her for the catering she would help with all the other stuff at no labor for herself! We would only pay her labor on the catering which she would do the rehersal dinner, drinks and food for wedding and cake and some other goodies we wanted to have. I felt like we had found a miracle worker! Untill recently when she started saying "you cant have this and you cant have that" and not willing to do any type of anything I wanted and then when we started talking about the bar she lied (I called ABC to check) and said ABC told her that she could not provide me a bartender for the alcoholic drinks! So now everytime I turn around she is wanting to charge labor for the stuff which she had intially agreed to do for no labor just the cost of supplies and of course my self and like 2 or 3 other people to assist even in the catering prep! just to help her! Now she is always changingI am really frustrated as I have done almost all of the leg work and she basically would have to help with assembly and the bartender! Should I do it myself and find a new caterer? And I even gave her the menu I wanted like 2 weeks ago now and she said she would get the estimate for everything and still no estimate and no call or email to say anything!NO CONTRACT I just felt obligated ya know! I have not given her the deposit due to the lack of her willingness to do what I am wishing for my day, I just wanted to make sure I was not being inappropriate or acting like a spoiled bride to be!

It sounds like her promises were too good to be true. If she is causing more trouble than she is worth you need to get rid of her.

If you didn't sign a contract and if you still have time I'd find somebody else. You want things to run smoothly and if you aren't working well together it would be best to move on. All of this preparation should be exciting and fun...and a lot of work too, but mostly fun. So look around first and see if you can find someone who is more agreeable and then give this one the ax. Read all the small print if you did sign a contract so you don't get stuck with extra fees!! Good luck and congratulations!

I would sit down with her and tell her you expect what you verbally agreed to, and list the agreements you two made. And if she doesn't want to do the agreed upon things, then I would fire her @ss.

Well, she definitely didn't present her services honestly. She should have been up-front with you and told you that she could get SOME things with no labor cost. And then she should have stipulated exactly what she would and wouldn't do for no labor costs. I had a similar situation with a car mechanic once, and you know what I ended up doing? Stopping the payment on his check!!! Fire her and coordinate the wedding yourself. It is so much easier than you think.

As long as you don't have a contract with this woman I would tell her that you have decided to go another route. It sounds like you cannot trust her, and that is definitely not a good thing when it comes to planning your wedding. You need someone you can trust will get you the right answers, work with your budget and do exactly what she said she would do.

I don't know, but if you don't feel comfortable then it's okay for you to find someone else. That's my opinion.

If you can't trust your wedding planner/caterer to do what you need them to do, and do it well, the way you and your fiance want it, then you need to find one who will. It's really just that simple. Otherwise, you're in for a horrible wedding planning experience and will be unhappy with the result. Even if she's free, that's no bargain. It doesn't have to be that way. Find somebody else while you still have time.

With no contract, I would go find another coordinator and get a contract with everything in writing this time!
