I wanted to have it in Ocho Rios, I was thinking of August 2009 or earlier. I need some place where we can have the wedding that is affordable enough for me and the groom and our friends and families to stay.I also need advice on where and how should I book this trip , for example my sisters and parents would want to go together should I do through an agency? Or should I do it myself? I don't want to book through the hotel myself cause it was expensive already. Also any advice on wedding gifts and invitations??Thanks anything is appreciated!!!Oh btw, as for wedding gifts I meant favors for people attending the wedding. Thanks again |

| The Sandals Ocho Rios would be a good choice. Choose somewhere where the staff can assist you with the planning - it will be hard to do it yourself from afar. Also, before you start planning this, be sure it's the way you want to go. Destination weddings are much drama. You note you have sisters. Think about what would happen if one of them planned a destination wedding for right now. You'd need to find the money to go, as would all the friends and family. There might be bridesmaids or family you'd like to have there who can't afford it, can't get a sitter, or can't get time off of work. You ask for advice on wedding gifts... well, people will buy them and bring them there. Then you will have to ship them back. It will be pricey. There is no way around it. You can't just ask for gift cards or money- it's too tacky and rude. Whatever you choose, good luck to you. |

| Congrats. My husband and I got married in Jamaica on11/08/03 @ Sunset Beach and Spa -Montego Bay .This resort was inexpensive for our guest & they did an absolute beautiful job on our wedding. I was nervous because it's hard to plan a wedding miles away. You just have to say a lil prayer and trust in GOD that all will fall into place...Destination weddings are becoming more and more popular that's why people do it. I would def go through a travel agency. Some of my guest had their own travel agency that they went through-which didn't matter one way or another....once you decide on the resort; be sure you let your guest know the prices asap. Faras invites; I did my own - but I did it as a newsletter...with all the travel details -it was really cute; you can get templates from word or microsoft publisher. In our newsletter; we told our guest not to bring gifts to Jamaica; we had a reception once we returned that's where I threw my boutique, received gifts, garter toss etc., Also you have your work cut out for you; because now everyone will need passports. That should also be included in your invites. We also decided on a all inclusive resort; that way we didn't have to worry about the cost of food, drinks and non motorized water sports... |
