My hairstyle for the wedding is very simple and I have a beautiful beaded veil (which actually costs more than the dress) that I love. Anyway, it is fingertip length so I am worried that it will get in the way at the reception, but if I remove it, I think my hair do will look to plain for the dress. Is is OK to wear it for the ceremony and the reception? Have any other brides done this? BTW - the veil does not have a blusher - its the back half only.

I wore my veil the whole time, even at the reception. You will want to have it on for your pictures. I have never been to a wedding where a bride has taken it off at the reception.

I wore my finger tip veil during the reception and it never got in the way. The only time I was every concerned about my veil was during the ceremony when we lit the unity candle but I was really conscious and careful to keep it away from the flames.

You can wear it. That being said, I said that I was going to wear mine during the reception, but it essentially got ripped out of my hair after the first few hugs...and it made some of my updo fall out. I would recommend taking it off for comfort purposes.

I say wear it - it's your day - plus I've never seen anybody take it off just for that reason. I wore mine the entire time and it made for some really good pictures too, especially dancing. I'd show you a pic if I could.

Of course you can. If it is not going to get in the way and you don't think you are going to ruin it - Go for it!Good Luck!

Whether you are having a formal reception or a more casual one, removing your veil depends on two things: whether you have your heart set on wearing your headpiece for the entire wedding and whether wearing your veil at the reception will drive you crazy. Some brides are happy to pull off the veil once the reception starts, while others want to wear it for as long as possible. Your hairstyle may also be a big factor -- will it survive the removal of your headpiece? And just because you remove your veil for the reception, doesn't mean you'll be forfeiting the formality of the evening. Donning an elegant hairstyle without a veil can be just as formal. There really are no rules here -- go with whatever makes you feel most comfortable. If you decide to take it off, maybe wear a tiara or a sparkly comb style barrette.

This is like a 50/50 thing, half brides take theirs off as soon as the ceremony and pictures are over and I have seen some who have a one layer that looks cute with their hair and isn't in the way and they leave it on all night. If you want to wear it and think it won't be that much of a hassle I say wear it, even if the first have of the reception is the traditional stuff and the second half is just dancing, you could wear just for the first half of the reception and then the take it off when you guys are dancing and having fun. Congrats!

I had a very simple hairstyle with a fingertip length veil. I wore it throughout the reception and it didn't get in my way at all. There were a few times when my husband pulled at it a little, but after be saying, "If you mess up my hair I'll kill you" a few times he quickly learned I liked wearing the veil...and I paid enough for it, so I thought I should get good use out of it. |

Yes, it's fine to wear a small tiara with a veil - I wore one - the fingertip-length veil was attached to the tiara. I had short hair, and the tiara and veil get put on a little behind the middle of one's head. I wore my veil back. I wanted to avoid the 'beauty pageant' look! However, I don't like the look of the headband near the front of the head and then the veil at the back. But that's a personal thing --

I have seen brides wear their veils at the reception but all of them took it off before the end of the night because it was uncomfortable.

I wore mine the entire time and it didnt get in the way. it was so pinned into my hair that I wouldnt have been able to take it off if I wanted to. I have actually never known a bride to take it off.
