I need ideas on what to wear for me and my groom. We plan on getting married in April. I am 21 and he is 25.We are from arkansas. This is the first marriage for both of us. We want it to be simple and intimate. So it will just be the two of us and the officiant.I want to wear a dress and him probably a suit and tie. I just don't know what kind of dress I should get.I do want it to be nice enough for a few pictures to be taken.I am planning on having the wedding at one of the places in Heber Springs, Eureka Springs or Hot Springs. Those places offer good deals on elopement packages including a semi honeymoon offer. You can usually choose from being married indoors or outdoors. We haven't decided what we prefer yet. I guess it depends on what looks the best.So anyway any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.I don't want the big wedding dress thing and i don't want to get married in jeans.I want him in a suit and tie so some ideas along those lines for me. I'm a size 16 if that helps

See if you can buy a bridesmaid's dress in an ivory or white color, or a simple tea length white dress. Here are some simple but pretty dresses, the bridesmaods dresses are available in white or ivory (or get married in a different color if you want).http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=cd360f5e-646a-4d54-ae8c-36eaedd52a9d&categoryID=6eb1ddbe-45d0-4d16-93d6-ca5ded5c84d6&pg=1http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=d67f5cd6-3962-4f1e-a236-1760682c7d88&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_detail.jsp?stid=3331&prodgroup=110http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=2996&prodgroup=123And, you will need 2 wittnesses.

Well since april is spring time. i would go for an outdoor ceremony. As far a a dress is concerened...That might be simple summer dress. I use to be a size 30. Now Im a size 12. When I was in plus size I wore alot of empire waisted blouses. Because it does amazing things like hide or diminish the stomach area. So this type of dress might be something for you to look for. i wish you much joy.g ood luck.

One great thing about David's Bridal is that you can find wedding dresses for as low as $99. They are always having sales. Go someplace like that and look for something simple. Also, consider checking out bridesmaids dresses in white or ivory - those could also work for you.

Congrats! There have been some lovely ideas posted already, so just adding to that, why not go for an evening dress if you don't want something too traditional? My hubby and I got married on the beach - he wore a cotton/ linen shirt & trousers, and I wore a dark blue strappy dress; we were both barefoot. The main thing is that your wedding day is so special and personal to you both, that you'll want to be comfy in whatever you wear. And the clothes needn't cost the earth either. I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect.Good luck to you both, & wishing you a lifetime of happiness together x

Hi,I am 21 also and I'm marrying my fiance (also 21) in July.We are doing what you're doing, except in England, so marrying by ourselves in a register office with the registrar and 2 witnesses (we need them to make it legal). It's not quite an elopement as people know what we're doing but it didn't go down well with his dad when we announced it because we had previously announced that we were doing the proper wedding but we always had doubts about that decision. Some say we will regret not having a 'proper' wedding but I really don't think we will because this is our ideal wedding day for us, celebrating our happiness alone. So to answer your question I personally really like the idea of having a simple wedding just for yourselves if that's what you have decided would work best for you.In terms of what to wear I am still wearing the dress I bought for the wedding but it's just a simple golden bridesmaid dress that I got in a sale and I'm not going over the top with accessories. My fiance is going to wear tight black jeans/trousers, black boots/shoes and a wine red shirt - so smart but not too formal and that's what he likes to wear. As you're doing it on your own you'll still want to look and feel the part but I would go for something that you feel beautiful but yet comfortable in. It needn't be the usual wedding dress but maybe something elegant, like a party dress or as it's in Spring, maybe something a bit brighter and floral.Anyway good luck in your wedding planning and hope you have a wonderful wedding day!

Congrats! I don't think it is wrong at all. I plan on doing the same thing. Honestly, I would just look around until you find something that you are comfortable with. Personally, I would just wear nice tea-length dress, as a lot of others have said. Not sure of your exact style taste, so I will share the two that I am considering for myself...This one is very simple yet beautiful (IMO): http://lanebryant.charmingshoppes.com/pagebuilder/lane_bryant_product_page?item=0131177&stlcmpid=1713Perhaps fancier than what you want, but on sale from $160 to $30!:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000U9BMJE/ref=nosim/?tag=dealtime-app-mp06-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000U9BMJE&linkCode=asnAlso, in Arkansas you do not have to have any witnesses at the wedding itself. You do however, have to have a witness with you at the court when you sign the license application.Good luck and blessings to you!
