I love my G7, but it's heavy and bulky. So I sold it to get a compact size camera that fits in my pocket or light on my wife's purse.I want good pictures and video movies too.I read reviews of the cameras and still can't decide. Can I use optical zoom on the SD950 or SD870?How bad is the photo on Canon TX1 indoors?I read that the indoor photos are not good, noisy. However, what if you use flash to take indoor pictures, are they still bad or good.I ready want the TX1 because of the movie recording features, but will buy the SD950 if it can zoom while recording videos. Please also state if you own it or tried it, thanks.

I believe both those cameras have 3x optical zoom. That's not a lot, but is average for the smaller point-and-shoot cameras. I would reccomend www.dpreview.com for some more research for you. They have great, unbiased reviews on a LOT of cameras. Also, IMO, Canons in general are not so great indoors. You might consider Nikon or Panasonic for higher ISO's and clearer indoor pictures. Particularly Nikon's S51 and Panasonic's TZ3, which has 10x optical zoom. Both have good video modes, as well. Hope this has been helpful!
