I got married on 4/05/08 and my cake was wrong. I had been in to the store the day before and looked at the cake. It was wrong. My colors were hot pink and lime green. My cake was lime green and cranberry red. i was told someone was going in that night to fix it and not to worry. I am really laid back and didnt want to worry b/c its not all about the wedding. Well now that I have seen my pictures I am really upset. It looked like a jacked up Christmas cake in April. I am debating if i should bring this up to the store or just let it go? Would you call and talk to the owner of the store or would you just let it go. I can't change the pictures, but I am really disappointed i was told it would be fixed and it wasnt!

I'd definitely talk to someone about it. You tried to not stress over something you were assured would be fixed, and now, something that cannot be changed has showed up in your pictures.

You paid big dollars for that cake. I would speak with the store manager about it not being corrected.AND maybe, just maybe, your photog is good enough with a computer to be able to photo-shop in the hot pink color and can print a new set of photos for you.Ask the store manager to pay for the retouching and new photos.Normally I wouldn't be fussy - let it slide - but since you were told that the cake would be fixed - and it wasn't...Show them the pictures AND your purchase contract.

I would call and make an appointment to go in and sit down with the store owner. Bring the photos with you. Just tell her you are still upset about it and would like her to help remedy the situation in some manner. Think about what you would like before you go in to talk to her....whether it be some sort of refund, etc. Good luck!

Call and find out when the owner or manager will be at the store. Take a copy of your bakery contract that specifies the colors you requested, and a copy of a picture of the cake. Explain to them that you didn't get what you, and ask them (POLITELY) how they plan to reimburse you for not fulfilling the contract. If they don't offer any reimbursement, request a specific, reasonable refund amount (Asking for a 100% refund might be unreasonable - you DID get a cake, even if it wasn't quite right.) If they still refuse, follow up with a polite but firm written request for a specific amount, accompanied by a picture and a copy of the contract. If the issue still isn't resolved, contact your local better business bureau.A good photography studio can use Photoshop to re-touch your photos to make the colors of your cake right. It sounds silly, but if the pictures are bothering you, either ask the photographer to re-touch them or to print them in black and white. It might cost a little extra, but you can use the refund from the bakery to pay for it. It might even help to get a price quote for the photo re-touching from your photographer before going back to the bakery. Then you can say to them, "It's going to cost me $XX to have my wedding photos re-touched so that the colors match. I'm respectfully requesting that the store reimburse me that amount."

I would definitely call the bakery and complain to the owner about it. Maybe you could negotiate at least a partial refund. Be sure you have your receipt that states exactly what you were expecting and explain the whole story to the owner (mention the names of the people you talked to that reassured you the cake would be fixed) and have your pictures on hand too. And post a review of the bakery on www.yelp.com so other people can be warned.

Yah, I would call. It's too bad you didn't mention anything when you saw it the day of (and they'll probably ask you why you didn't), but I would call anyway. Mention the name of the person you talked to the day before about the changes, and get a refund or half off, or something! This is something that if was not resolved, would fester and boil inside me. So don't let it go! P.S Bring in the pictures to the bakery!

I would say something - you paid for the cake, and it's not what you wanted. At the very least, they can refund some of your money.I'm so sorry about your pictures. I know what you are going through. I ordered a 2 tier cake, white, with fresh gerbera daisies on it. Because it was a destination wedding, I didn't get a chance to do a tasting, but I trusted the woman I went though... Well, needless to day, the cake was 2 tier, off white, and was so small, we couldn't put the daisies on it. I think the top tier was a cupcake.Granted, it was only the 2 of us, and I'm going to be getting dressed again to do more pics at the house when we have a reception... AND I'm not going to have the same cake - ;)Good luck!!! Congratulations on the wedding - you and I share an anniversary!

Yea, I would definitely call or talk to the store owner. I deserve a good explanation for it and I just can't sit there and do nothing. I have to let them know that they disappoint me after paying the right amount of money for the cake and not getting the exact cake I really wanted. <*-*>

Get some of the money back! You signed a contract with these people and they failed to do what you asked! I would take the pic in and make them do a partial refund.

well, true about being laid back and your attitude about it not all being about the wedding, in the long run. But from the perspective of it being a business contract that you entered into, and they didn't fulfill that contract properly, or make right after a screw up(and screw ups do happen, bthat is a guarantee, the sign of a good business is someone who will take initiative to make right what they wronged). There is no need and it's preferred not to go in with guns slinging. Someone mentioned preparing what you want to say, and what you want out of it. A few options maybe. If they didnt already offer to make right somehow, it's obviously up to you to say what you want to feel better. As I said, mistakes happen- how they handle it makes them either stay in business and recommended, or get reported to the BBB. Good luck!
