Ok so my boyfriend just recently got into photography when he got a great camera for Christmas. We've been taking like day trips to places locally around where we live so he can capture pics...he has a flickr setup and I was wondering if there was something creative I could do for his birthday. Like either plan a weekend trip to a great place in PA to take pics or submit his pics into a contest or what else?? Any great ideas?? I want to make it special and meaningful!!

Get him a gift certificate at your local camera store or B&H Photo. Gift certificates are sometimes a cop-out, but you will NEVER know what is the exact right piece of equipment to buy for someone's camera. Say, "Here. You can get that macro lens you've been thinking about." ...which would cost about $400 or so...Or, look for Ringing Rocks in Upper Bucks County, PA. It's a pretty cool photo site.

Not sure which brand of camera he got, but Nikon brand has seminar's in various locations featuring in-depth instruction for beginners or pro's to advance themselves digitally. Flickr has a partnership with a company called Blurb.com, where you can have your boyfriends photos made into a bound hardcover coffee table book, featuring his pictures, in various layouts, and captions by you underneath. I too agree with the gentleman who said posing nude would work. Id love it if my girl did that for me

I like the idea of a weekend away for a photo trip, the Poconos are especially beautiful. Or if you want to go a bit further, there's a place in the Adirondaks, Mohonk Mountain House, it has the most amazing scenery and views, it's spectacular any time of the year, and very very romantic. http://mohonk.com I also like the suggestion of a gift certificate to either http://bhphotovideio.com or http://adorama.com both of which offer lower prices and a great assortment of items.

The weekend trip is a great idea. The contest idea isn't such a great one. Another great idea some camera accessories like a tripod or an image editing program. Well, I guess camera stuff isn't too special, but the trip definitely would be!
