Hello. I am looking for a compact 6-8mp digicam to keep with me so when an opportunity comes, I can whip the cam out and get some shots. I've already two more real/serious digicams Kodak Z612 and Panasonic DMC LZ4. The ones I'm looking at now only have 3x optical zoom (NOT counting digital zoom). My choices are down to: Sanyo VPC E760, HP Photosmart R742, Kodak M853, and Panasonic DMC LS75. I like the last three best. Which would be THE best? I found NO reveiws for the HP or the Sanyo, and the Kodak has really bad reviews though I like it. The Nikon Coolpix L11 has a neat feature of letting you now when the image is blurred. Thanks for the input. Thanks for the input so far. I forgot to mention I need it to be less than $150!

It would have to be the $179.00 Canon Powershot SD1000 ELPH 7-megapixel, with 3X optical zoom, minimal shutter lag, has both an LCD and viewfinder, has the "vivid" color setting found in the Nikon D40s and D80s, excellent quality sound color video which has been reviewed by over 400 happy purchasers on amazon.com. It's ultra compact [fits in a shirt pocket] and the rechargeable lithium battery generates over 165 images.Good luck!

If you are looking for a really good image quality, it's better to forget about HP, Sanyo, Kodak etc. Look at the Fujifilm F40fd: http://fototramp.blogspot.com/2007/12/fujifilm-f40fd-vs-finepix-f50fd-canon.htmlThe 8.3-megapixel Fujifilm F40fd has most useful resolution than others Fujifilm digital compacts. Moreover, in comparison with some Canon’s best cameras as PowerShot SD950, G9 and A640, the FinePix F40fd looks good. Its 1/1.6-inch sensor makes an excellent quality images and kept noise to a minimum and resolution to an optimum. For more cameras look through: http://fototramp.blogspot.com/2007/11/compare-digital-compact-cameras-from.html
