What would a post-wedding party be called? We are having a small ceremony and reception for immediately family members and our four best friends only. However, we want to have a post-wedding party for the extended family about a month later. We want to lay out our wedding album, scrapbooks, and show the ceremony dvd (not getting the reception on dvd). What would this be called? Also, we are not being tacky or fishing for gifts. Our family just knows that we are keeping the wedding small due to money concerns as he is being deployed soon. They understand, but we still want to celebrate with them later. Its not a reception, I definitely know that.

I think that it could be called a "dinner reception" or "lunch/brunch reception" whatever you guys are going to do as far as food. Maybe even a "marriage reception" and you could word an invite like Mr. and Mrs. John Doeinvite you to attend a dinner receptionin honor ofYahoo Answer Wife and her husband on August 4, 2008You could even put something like "please, the only presents we require is your presence" or something like that to cue people that presents aren't necessary (although no doubt some people will still bring one).Congratulations!

me and my fiance' are having a party after we get back from our honeymoon for only friends. It'll be a party we can drink and have fun with no family. (not that family is not fun). We are inviting people to that that aren't invited to the wedding....we're calling it a 'after the wedding party' It's going to be fun! =) My friends love the idea tooo!

I would still call it a wedding reception. You just do the invites as "Just Married" and then the party info.
