ok. we have decided to have our wedding in the living room with fireplace going, and christmas atmosphere around the holiday season in december. any ideas for decorations? where should people sit? on the sectional couch? or should i move the couch and put in some chairs? any pointers?well the fireplace is at the front of the livingroom and to the left is the front of the house windows where the christmas tree will be. and i thought about facing the corner of the room between the two. and my sectional couch can seat five people without having to squeeze anybody in the middle which is possible. and we can always move in kitchen chairs around the sides. i thought about putting mistletoe above where we'll be standing, but i don't know if thats a little too cliche.also thought about some candlelight

I think chairs would be more functional, people tend to spill more drink sitting in a couch! Have a great wedding hon, and a wonderful Christmas!

Nice idea.. first of all advance congratulations to you both.. Well, it depends on the situation and environment of your house. If your house looks spacious enough for the visitors and guest you can leave your couch their for your parents (both) but if not take it away and repalce it with smaller chairs. By the way where is the center place of wedding. (e.i. fireplace, side of stairs?). I suggest that you put plenty of lights around you, I guess you're entrance will be upstairs so every single light is of except from the stairs and spot to you. But if you planned to use vehicle for entrance well your goin to use your main door. Oh one more thing what kind of wedding you want, something classic, modern, oldies, fantasy and its christmas you should have a mottif.. so good luck my dear... I hope you have a great day.

Definitely add some chairs so people can sit down while you are getting married. I love the mistletoe idea, I really do, it's sweet rather than over the top. You can get some lovely fairy lights at this time of year, those would look sweet. Serve up mulled wine to your guests, it's perfect for a winter wedding.

depending on how many guests you are inviting, the couch and some ottomans will be fine. if ottomans aren't available, maybe a couple of chairs.go the misltoe it will be cute and sweet.for decorations, have gold and white as your christmas colours decorating the tree in gold and white decorations and ribbons.I would have a few hellium gold and white balloons hanging from the ceiling in one or two corners.Have all the tableware and linens in gold and white.Have a white isle of material across the room for you to walk down, with a few scattered gold sequins or rose petals.sounds beautiful!

Well how many people are invited? ( not including us?) I tell you what would look really pretty. Is renting some all white chairs if you can budget it. If not, use the dining room or other friends fold ups and tie some cute white ribbon or fabric around them. Yes use white twinkle lights with the fabric or toille that you use for the chairs. I think Christmas is beautiful by itself , so you don't have to go over the top decorating. If you want to get some extra tree branches when you pick up your tree to make wreaths or centerpieces to make it smell nice, and accent with pretty ribbon and candles. Even Walmart has cute ribbon in huge bolts! If you can afford to rent chairs, grab a huge banquet table too and use it for the buffet. If not, do what you can afford. I've even bought flat white sheets on clearance at kmart to use at tablecloths for $3. Thanks martha! Scour some magazines and see what you think is pretty. You have plenty of time and you'll make some wonderful memories. Don't forget to take pictures! Hand out some disposable cameras if you want!

Hi and congratulations! How beautiful! You are about the third bride in as many days wanting a Christmas wedding! It will be very romantic. Here are my suggestions/pointers:Do you have a mantle on your fireplace? I hope so. I would decorate that with fresh boughs:http://www.afreshchristmastree.com/index.asp?cid=703&tid=2048Then mixed in with that I would place some battery operated mini lights (so you don't have to worry about plugging them in!), like this:http://www.christmaslightsetc.com/categorydetail.asp?CategoryID=1&source=g&camp=battery&gclid=CNChnbG86o8CFRGCGgodXn4tKwThen you can place some candles on the mantle also. Either pillars, tapers, votives....whatever you like. This would make the room shine!I would try to not go too overboard with Christmas decorations on every table. Maybe keep it really simple. I think the lighted tree, with the mantle lit up and the fireplace going.....how romantic! I wouldn't use any other light.....have a "candle lit" wedding. Other ideas would be to decorate your tree with white lights and 2 colors of ornaments only....maybe silver and blue? or red and gold? You can also get some skinny glass vases like this:http://www.save-on-crafts.com/cyva6x33ea6o.htmland fill them with small shiny ornaments...say in 2 colors.Another idea would be to get some small poinsettia plants and use those as decorations!Seating: It depends on how many guests you are having. Perhaps it would be nice to rent the "white" chairs that you see at weddings all the time, like this:http://www.galasource.com/prodDetail.cfm/50020?source=froogleGood luck and I hope you have a beautiful Christmas wedding!
