My mom has a gorgeous wedding ring that has been past down through all the daughters in her families generations and I will recieve it for my wedding. I was wondering....when I recieve the ring....what happens to my mother...is it implied to get her one or my father to get her one?she will no longer have a ring after she hands it down besides her engagement ring. so how does that work?

You shouldn't have swallowed the ring in the first place. It's up to you how you're going to pass it.

That's a tough one. I received my mothers ring however my father had passed a way a few years before. I did buy her a lovely ruby ring for her as that is her birthstone, she was thrilled. You coud always speak with your dad and perhaps the two of you could get her something together, then it would be even more special.

OK I get where you are coming from but if she has her engagement ring that will do. But if you feel you need to get her a other ring make sure both her and your dad are cool with it. You do not want her upset or offended so just sit down and ask her about it or get her a ring with both your and her birthstones in it so you can shear even moregood luck

Talk to her and ask her what her mother did. Perhaps your grandfather bought her a new ring. Perhaps it will be a good oppurtunity for your dad to buy her a beautiful diamond anniversary ring. Or maybe you can buy her a nice band. It is up to you guys. I think she will need something as her hand will feel odd without the ring.

You need to ask your mom. It sounds like a tradition that is pretty unique to your family, so I don't think anyone outside your family will be much help.
