so, why do christians think that a pentacle and anyone wearing one is evil, but wedding bands are okay?both have the same origins and same purposes. why is one okay and even practiced by christians while the other is so frightening?regardless if the wedding ring is a symbol of love or union it is still a magical item and should be frowned upon by the same community that shuns other occult symbols.or is this another pagan tradition that jesus "won" like christmas and easter to make them safe for christians to practice(BS)?why the double standard?

I had the impression pentacles were Christian symbols anyhow, at least at some point in history, representing the cruciform figure. It's the inverted ones they should get upset about.

What many won't admit to (and are probably unaware of) is that Christianity once utilized the pentacle...and embraced the tenent of reincarnation! And after reading the first response, I must add this: I know that the inverted pentagram is recognized as a Satanic symbol (which scares many), but it is also used to show a particular degree in many traditions of Wicca.

You seem to already know the answer, I'd just like to add that the custom of wedding rings is perpetrated by the jewelry and diamond industry. Advertising is so tricky!

you may thank the roman catholic church for that! the ring was added as not only a symbol of love for the Christian but a mark of ownership. now that you wear it you belong to some one & no one but the owner better touch!

There are so many customs that christianity, and society in general, has adopted from Paganism...that it's just been accepted and traditionalized rather than questioned.....The wearing of wedding rings is one of them....

Also, the horns always shown on the devil originally belonged to the god of the forest- another of the church's attempts to demonize all other religions.

It's not that Jesus won or lost any holidays...it's what people that came AFTER him did to pervert (even in their attempts to perfect it or unify the populous) the religion. You can't put all the blame on the religion, you have to take into account that these are mere people who, in some cases, are only doing what they think to be right. The others are simply trying to gain as much control of as many people as they can possibly muster, even if it's to lead them astray. They have a legacy, no matter what it may be. They have the equivalent of Ancient Egyptian immortality - their names are remembered and that's all that matters to them.A lot of the changing of Christian holidays were done to allow converted people to celebrate the same idea of the holiday on the same general date/s that they celebrated them in the first place. Some was done for control - through fear or whatever means they needed to maintain it - but NOT all.The ring is to signify no beginning and no end (in a way, reminiscent of God) to love. This came from Handfasting. Only, since the early Christians believed that marriage should last for a lifetime, with ONE PERSON ONLY, they took out the idea of 'a year and a day,' which was the time given from the original marriage/union date to decide whether or not they wanted to continue on together or be done with each other.A great deal of the symbolism was also due to Paganism (aka, anything NOT Christian) so that it would make the transition easier, also. We just incorporated them into the celebrations to make it a more involving thing, in my opinion. It's not a bad thing, just as the cross shouldn't be a bad thing (though it was used only for disgrace, as was the original usage of the word Christian - Romans looked down on anybody following Christ and his teachings, so this slur became a gladly embraced term) the ring should be a symbol of love, no matter what the original emphasis on it was.In a way, it's just like the Crusades...they weren't mentioned in the Bible, but people took it upon themselves to do as they thought right, and kill a bunch of people that they didn't belong killing. But that's a whole different argument.Hope that gives you a better idea of it, at least in one way.
