Look for Gigs on Craigslist: http://austin.craigslist.org/ggg/ or post your services there: http://austin.craigslist.org/crs/You should also just try asking around and putting your name in at different bridal shops or partnering with "complementary" services, like wedding ensembles.

Austin is a tough market for photographers, partially because of the 2 universities offering photography degrees in the city (UT and SEU). Your best bet is to start photographing people/events for free and then put up a website of your work so people can see what your'e capable of. Hiring a wedding photographer is a serious endeavor, and someone is not going to pay you hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars to shoot the biggest day of their life unless they know what you can do and can see what you can do and can talk to people you've done it for.In photography, you gotta start at the bottom and work your way up.

When looking for a job, it's always best to use as many resources as possible. Use the sites, but also check local classifieds and network by telling your friends and family that you're looking.Sometimes the odds of getting a job through monster are low. Because so many people look for jobs there. You're better off trying a site with less competition and lesser wait time. Insidersreferral.com is a useful one. It will be more efficient that you have someone refer you a right position.
