| You usually rent most of your items. The church, reception hall, chairs, tables, linens are all usually rented. The cost of it completely depends on where you live, what you are covering it with. Of course if you are layering tables with one tablecloth and a sheer overlay, it's going to be more expensive.Tuxes are normally rented. You purchase flowers, bridal gown, bridesmaids gowns, shoes/accessories, and that's just about it.That doesn't really save you money b/c thats what everyone does.My caterer included all rentals in her contract. She did my tables, silverware, glassware, and linens all in her contact. You can save the most money on alcohol. If you do an open bar with mixed drinks, you could run a $5,000 bar tab. If you only serve white/red wine (or no alcohol), you can save all that. Look for reception halls that allow you to bring your own alcohol. Then you can buy discounts by the case. |

| Hi. You must be in the UK...here in the U.S., we say "rent" items. But I know what you are talking about.Anyway....yes, I do know of some places that rent out centerpieces, decorations, etc. But I am not sure if it is cheaper. As a matter of fact, the ones I see here in the U.S., I could make myself for less.It really depends on how handy your sister is...how much time she has...and what is included with the venue. Such as, when my daughter was married, the reception venue included little mirrors, candles, and some ivy to go around the candles. So we did not need to worry about centerpieces. If she is having a venue that needs lots of work and decorating, it may be cheaper for her to rent (hire) out all the decorations. Most places will also come in and do the decorating for you as well. It's simply a matter of cost comparing how much each item is to rent (hire) or to make yourself.Good luck! |
