I want to turn a photo of my daughter holding her wedding bouquet into B&W but leave the flowers in their original colourUsing Photoshop 7. I have tried to follow Agata response but I have to flatten image so there are no layers to erase over to get the flowers to show through. Am i not seeing the blindingly obvious?? Al help gratefully accepted. Cheers

depending on which software package you are using, select the area that you wish to remain in color; inverse your selection and convert to black and white. This is in graphic design terms. In laymen terms, select the area that you wish to remain in color; reverse your selection and convert this new selected area to black and white. It's all about a 60 second process using the right software. good luck to you!

It depends what software you have on your comptuer. IF you have photoshop 4.0 and up then you select thepart image you want to keep that color and do so with the magic wand then go to select>select inverse>image>enhance>color>remove colorthis will keep the flowers their original color but turn the rdest black and white if you dont have photoshop you can always goodle or go into the help question box in the program you arae going to use

with use of layers complete process of removing areas on b&w layer over colored layer for flowers to show through, save original psd , then flatten and save copy as jpg, you could also use magnetic lasso tool to select around flowers, invert selection and desaturate, you could also select around flowers, copy, then desaturate/ remove color, and then paste over b&w layer, erase edges, and flatten, then save,..
