I order to keep people who are not crazy about dancing the night away, what sort of activities are good to keep them involved in the wedding and having a good time?

Good food and fun people will generally take care of a lot of things like that.

I went to a wedding where the reception was on a dock, so we got to look out onto the ocean for a while.

The DJ or MC should be keeping the party going. One of the ways is to do a "Married couples" dance, where they get all the married couples on the dance floor - then eliminate them couple by couple by the number of years of marriage. The bride and groom are always eliminated first.

The best DJ's I've seen get out on the dance floor and lead. I did a wedding in Orange County a few years back. He had no persona. You could train a monkey to change CD's.

That's a very good idea. Maybe I can organize that the next time I photograph a wedding.
