| My 8yr. old son is having his tonsuls and adnoids removed next wk. We've got pre-op Wed. and surgeory on Thurs. His dad was supposed to have taken those days off to watch our 22month old. But two days ago called me from work to tell me he was going on a business trip next week. He is on Salary, so he won't benefit from that aspect and there are several other people that could go in his place but he won't tell them no. He say's he will try and be home by late Wed. night but that still leaves me looking for a sitter for Wed. Not to mention our 8 tr. old is really stressed and I think it would be nice if his dad showed some support...I am really upset with him!! Am I being stupid?I know his job is important to him,but this is the 7th trip he has taken over the past 8 months or so...missing one is not going to hurt him!! The person that's going to be hurt is our son...I know work is important but should it be put before your family? God has always provided for us and I don't think that would change because he took time for his family! AM I being unreasonable? |

| Sure it would be great if all families could just do whatever they wanted. But most of us have to earn a living. He probably feels that by working hard, he is providing for his family. Isn't that better than a dead beat dad, or one that is always home because he is unemployed? While he is on a salary, and he may not financially benefit from taking the trip, you have to look at the bigger picture. Maybe this trip is part of a plan to earn a promotion, to go the extra mile so that one day he will make even more money to provide a better quality of life for you and your kids.It sounds like you are being a little unreasonable. It's not like your son is going to have major surgery. 60 years ago they'd do that operation without anesthetic. |
