My girlfriends and I have hired a photographer to take a group picture of us. The only problem is we can only do it at night. We are going to take some in the studio with a back drop, but we are also wanting a creative idea for outside pictures. We know that working in the dark with photography is a challenge, and our photographer said she is going to think VERY hard, but does anyone have any ideas!?

Have the camera on a tripod and the shutter open.Have someone walk through the group and use a hand-held flash on each person. Take some experimentaion but it might look cool.

I just did this.I gave each person a small pen light with different colour lenses and let them paint themselves with the lights while I kept the shutter open (30 seconds) and during the exposure set off my flash manually. I took about ten shots of them and while some were sort of goofy, there were two that came out great.Because it is dark, you will have to manually pre-focus the shot

Don't know what your personal interests are or how many of you there are but there must be someplace of interest which has glistening lights this time of year as a backdrop.

Standing on a hillside, overlooking a city's lights, group lit by a series of car headlights, using a flash or 2 for backlighting.

Huddle together in a group. Each of you holds a candle. Your faces are only lit by the candles. The photographer puts the camera on a tripod, takes long exposure. Everyone needs to hold still. Looks good if it's outdoors, in winter clothing.Another idea: long exposure with rear curtain flash (your photographer will know what this is). Have you and your friends walk through the frame at a steady pace. At the end, the flash goes off, giving a sharp image at the end. But the motion before the flash gives the hint of action and movement. You can do this with dance moves too.Another idea: pick a background with lots of activity and movement. Again, do a long exposure (either with or without flash). The long exposure will show lots of movement in the background (say, car lights like long streaks or blurs of people hustling about), while you and your subjects are sharp.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
