If you do,... How important is it to you to keep your Wedding image separate from your Commercial image?Basically I'm trying to weigh out the pros and cons. Any advice, opinions and caution welcome. Thanks!

Hi. I do everything and everything. My main profile is weddings and portraits, but I also advertise separately as a commercial photographer, mainly shooting industrial and media.

I keep all my work completely separate. On separate hard-drives using separate prefixes to each image reference number. I did this because it started to get hard to track stuff down. My website did contain weddings and commercial, but I've just deleted all commercial stuff off my website and quite soon I'm going to have a second website with a different domain - one for social and one for commercial. I even use different email addresses - one for wedd's and one for commercial.

Your website is your shop-window..but I've found that it can confuse or put people off if you offer too much, especially commercial buyers.

I have been a professional photographer for just about 20 years now - I shoot weddings, editorial and corporate. As much as I would like to show one body of work under the same flag, as I feel that I have a specific Style that Stamps all of my images, I tend to keep weddings separate to portraits and other markets in My photographic business. I am hoping that one day I will be able to show a body of work covering all aspects of my photography under one name and one website. But I do not think my clients are ready for that Yet!
