I heed help with this. I am trying to find a lens for my sony alpha, but i either want something wide, or something fast, or just something quality... BUT, i only have about 200 dollars to spend (which might pretty much limit that to just the first two choices... maybe less) anyway, what online retailers do you go through? i know of b&h photo, but where else can i look? i'm looking for used or new equipment, anyway, i'm kinda desperate, i've been lookign for a while, and havent found any good deals...

Besides B&H, you could try Adorama.com as well. These two NY retailers are among the largest in the nation.

But because you have a Sony Alpha camera, you'll have to get Sony lenses as other mounts won't fit on their cameras. Sony purchased Konica / Minolta, so check to see if the older Minolta lenses will fit your Sony.

I like to go to camera shops and try the lenses out before I buy. And I know a few places in Charlotte that have student discounts, which is really great for my budget.

I use www.calibex.com or www.nextag.com to search a variety of shops for the best price.

I only have 2 lenses, and I got them both with the camera. I've looked at lenses in Best Buy and stuff, but only because you can't play with them when you look online.
