| I have had two laptops that use windows well both of them ended up getting really slpw. They both have gotten really slow and it is difficult for me to use. I use my laptop everyday for multiple things. I use it for downloading music, loading on pictures, homework, and many other things. I am also really into photography and hope to turn it into a carrer one day so I also want a laptop that is good for picture designing and all that stuff. My laptop is on for most of the day because I always need to use it. I need a laptop that doesn't die so fast. I am a college student and sometimes take my laptop to class to take notes. So I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas of a new laptop to buy? |

| apple's macbook or macbook pro sounds like your laptop! you can download all the music you want because macs are immune to viruses. and until january 8th you can get a glossy finish on for your screen so that your pictures will look superb. Since you are a college student you can also get a pretty good discount. For a macbook you could get one for like 1,000 dollars andd they are excellent computers. and for the macbook pro you could get one for 2,000. im on a macbook pro right now. i love it. i also use it for photography and video editing and just normal school things. |

| well your requirement is quite basic.U dont need to go for something very fancy.Your requirements areProcesser : Core 2 Duo 1.66 (somewhere around that mark)Mem: 1 GBHard Disk :depends on the number od songs and movies you want to storemy recommendation 120 GB(but as you are really serious about photography and would like to keep the same laptop for a long time and use it for designing and refining your picsgot for a Mac.. nothin like it......I am also a bit into Photography.. I play around with my Canon 40D..and I am also planning to buy a Mac.... |

| well i went to bestbuy and bought a gateway media laptop with a 15.4 inch screen, dual core amd processors, and a gig of ram. the only thing i've really needed to do is up grade the ram by a gig which was only about 50 bucks...i've been really happy with it and it still runs as if it was new...but if u multi task like i do then u deffinetly want a laptop with dual core precessors, and if it has vista at least 1 gig of ram...best of luck |

| I think a MAC would suit you but there are very pricey. Some good entertainment laptops cost five hundred pounds but Pc worls have a mac at six hundred. anyway if you need adobe photoshop cs3 extended contact me because I am also doing photography in college. |

| Most important thing and cheapest is to get more memory. Get it online at newegg, or frys.com I'd get them when there is a rebate of some kind. You need at least a 2 gig processor, and 120 gig hard drive. If it says it is a SATA hard drive then it will be faster. For your purposes I would say getting a 14inch screen or 15in is good. I recommend 14inch b/c it's not as heavy and u can fit it into a backback easily.Since you like downloading a lot. You should also reformat your hard drive into 2 partitions, one for storing files such as movies, music, pictures, and the other one where you install windows and programs. this way you can defrag it once a while. That's why your laptops are slow. It got too much junk in them.There are good deals right now at bestbuy every week until x-mas I imagine.Good brands are Acer (cheap and good), Dell, Compaq, and HP, Sony is overpriced for what it offers. If you have money to spend then get a medium grade model, such as Fujitsu. Check them out at stores before you buy them. Mostly the speakers, b/c most have crappy speakers, except Compaq, their speakers are usually the loudest....b/c sometimes u want to watch a movie on ur lappy too.And if you want to play an occasional game, get a laptop with a graphics card built in, it'll say Nvidia or ATI....don't get an integrated one. An integrated one will slow down your laptop when you are doing graphics processing on it b/c it is sharing memory and brain power with the cpu rather than having the graphics card take care of it.You can probably reuse ur old laptop too. Just reformat them, max out the memory, or buy a faster hard drive for it. But laptops are so cheap now $399 for a very decent laptop 2 sundays ago at bestbuy. PM me for more details. Lastly stay away from AMD Turion or Celeron laptops. They are slow. |
