I've heard that one shouldn't take photos of the sex-workers (which I completely understand, I would feel the same way) -- but I *would* like to get some shots of those hard red lights shining during the evening. Having said that, however, I really don't want to be arrested or beat up or have my camera stolen when I press down on the shutter. So, would some kind person here please help me figure out what is allowed in terms of photography, and what's not? Thank you very much. =)

I believe you can take photos, but to be sure just ask one of the many cops posted in that area.

There are signs posted everywhere saying No Photos. You risk your camera being taken away and possibly destroyed, and not necessarily by the cops.

In that area, at night, I wouldn't like to walk around with an expensive camera. During daytime it's a friendly place (if you don't mind the occasional drugdealer, junky or drunk British tourist). If you bring a friend, don't photograph the prostitutes, pimps and clients and keep a safe distance from the windows, you'll be okay. Just don't bring some huge expensive camera, pocketsize is better. On the other hand; maybe a sex worker will let you photograph her if you give her a 10 euro bill first Wink
