What is the proper wedding etiquette? Should one handwrite or print addresses on wedding invitations? My handwriting is not that great, and hiring a calligrapher is out of the question... I thought to print out labels, but my mother in law finds them tacky(surprise, surprise, haha)?!

These days it's totally acceptable to print address. Just pick a pretty font.

most people say to handwrite- but that can take a long time. i printed my addresses on fancy gold seals. so it depends on your preferance.

If you have or know someone with beautiful handwriting then I would write them. If not, there are loads of fonts you can use. Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage. xxxx

Old etiquette would be handwritten. But these days print is just as acceptible and looks just as nice. If there are a lot to write, definately print.

There is no right/wrong answer to this question, unless you are very traditional. In which case, they should be VERY neatly handwritten or done in calligraphy. (Try to find/hire someone who specializes in this.) Back in the day, all parts of the invitation were hand written, including the address. There are however, many rules as to the etiquette of addressing the receiving parties. Such as how many lines, whether you should list your return address and where, how or if to list a child, etc, etc. (never ever use address labels) Here's a site with some good rules. Hope you get some good answers!

The only one who reads the address is the postman. Do you think he cares?Nor will anybody else.

My handwriting is awful, my friends are busy, and calligraphy is soo expensive. IBesides, all the envelopes do get thrown away, but you still want them to look nice. am having the inner and outer envelopes done in "computer calligraphy"--they have tons of fonts. The place I am using is $.99 per set of envelopes. There are several sites, but this is the one I am using if you want to take a look: www.letterperfectdesigns.com
