| I would first find out what type of food the people your inviting eat. Does the group have a general commen type of food or do they enjoy a certain international flair? You can create a theme by pertaining it to a special memory of the couple you are honoring. An example, the honeymoon or place they vacationed. There is always a homestyle buffet.Do they like Pa Dutch Cooking, Southern Cooking, City style buffets of chinese, thai, japenese etc? After you figure out the style you will have, look up recipes, or get a caterer. This is not a easy task for one person.lYou can have Barbeque sandwiches and crockpot bean or sausage in a crockpot to place on rolls or a plate. Potatoe, Macaroni and pasta salads are good. With today's diets, you may wish a fresh food platter or two as a vegetable stick and broccolli and celery and carrot platter with dip ora cheese and fruit like pinapple sclices with ground cocunut and apple slices dipped in lemon soda and strawberries with carmel and cholate dips. Pretzels and chips and dip are good Crackers can be lower in fat as well as preztels. If you do a hot buffett, you can have peroiges, mashed potatoes, meatballs and sauce, hot roast beef au jus, Hot baked beans, corn peas or greenbeans in a steam table with coleslaw, and green lettuce.I could add much more, but you need to figure out the style and etnicity of the foods first, |

| As you are honouring a couple who has been married 50 years and stayed the distance, it is probably a great idea to put the party theme back to when they were young and married. The oldies will get a buzz, the younger ones will get a glimpse of how things were in those day. Decorate the venue around the edges with press clippings and magazine pages from the day.Try to bring a sense of time capsule to it. I think you will do fine.Good luck.Lisa |

go for something that will cater to both like a golden oldies theme w/ 50's music, something mellow, classic and romantic. it may bring back memories for the couple and be interesting for the younger guests. dress code is nice or 50's like and look up deco for the occasion. if everyone is bringing a dish you may want to assign entree/desserts/sides etc. go to a party store and take a gander, you may get new ideas, if not you can go w/ this theme and get silver and black place settings, etc... shouldn't be too expensive... you may want to set up a slide show screen and a projector, gather some photos of the two of them through the last 50 yrs, maybe some baby pics of them and include some pics of children and grandchildren.... if you can't do it yourself, enlist some help, they can be made with special effects, music etc and be save for later viewinghope i helped or got some ideas rolling |

| I dont think you nessecarily need a theme...unless you think of something that the couple would really like- luau, country hoedown, golden oldies, whatever. Gold is the color for 50th anneversary- so I say just do a gold theme. Gold decorations- balloons, streamers. for centerpieces how about picking some stuff up from the dollar store- gold framed mirrors placed on center of table, place a bud vase with a small bunch of lillies, tie a gold ribbon around the vase, a couple candles in gold holders around the mirror, maybe some 50th gold confetti scattered around it also. I would suggest to do something fun for the food people will be assigned- in the invites you can choose what kind of dish the person should bring like- appetizer, meat dish, side dish, etc.- and have them make something that starts with the letter of the couples last name- or the letter of one of their first names or something- or the letter of the person making it's first name....something along those lines to make it a bit more fun to decide on what to make!music- does the place have a system you can bring in CDs or so they have a satellite radio you can ask them to play a certain station, or do they just have radio reception? I'd say to either make mixed CDs of all differnt types of music so everyone will like the choices- or just pick a mixed radio station- it will just be background noise anyway (if you'll even be albe to hear it over 100 people! so don't put too much effort in that)I'd also suggest to get a picture board going of pics of the happy couple throughout their lives together. I made one for my moms 60th birthday and she had the best time showing off all her old pictures to everyone at her party! Maybe a picture cake made of the couple useing one of their wedding photos, you can also take one off their wedding pictures and blow it up to a poster size and hang it on the door to the party room- they do that at Walgreens I think.maybe a fun trivia game of who knows the couple best- make questions like where did they meet, their favorite vacation spot, hobbies, and any other fun triva you and others can come up with- have a few special prizes for those with the most right answers like some Forero Roche candy - cuz they are covered in gold foil-or any other gold type party favor you can think of.or maybe a "This is your Life" type game- have people behind something talking about a funny time they spent with the couple- have the couple guess who it is!a nice party favor you can give to all the guests may be a small wallet sized print of the couples wedding photo in a small gold frame- you can probly get those from the dollar store too, and copy the pictures at walgreens and get a couple sheets of small prints made. you can keep the same wedding photo the theme of the party along with the gold colors. make whatever you can from that photo - put it on the invites, picture frame party favors, door poster, put it on the trivia sheets, make wrapping paper from it, put it into candle holders to illuminate the picture when the candles are lit, whatever you can think of useing the pictures! |

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
