Ok, so my fiance wants to get married in his Dress Blues for the Marine Corps. And his best man is too a marine. Nobody else that is in the wedding party is in any branch of military so they will be wearing normal civilian attire. Originally I wanted my wedding colors to be brown and teal. But now I have no idea because I don't want the colors to clash with the dress blues. What colors would go well with that? I want my bridesmaids to wear halter top dresses with a ribbon under the bust, so I want to have 2 colors (the ribbon being the second color). Another dilemma is that the best man being a marine wants to wear his Charlies (the tan uniform for the Marine Corps). I said I don't want him to because then he won't match the other groomsmen... I need help! :/ Any ideas???Ok, well nobody asked for rude comments. But thanks. I have a year to plan my wedding so I'm stressed out yet, just trying to coordinate colors. I think others need to calm down a bit. Thanks for the blue and gold idea, that would look cute! :)Ok i made a mistake. He doesn't want to wear his Charlies, I misunderstood. He wants to wear his Alphas (the all dark green with the coat)

Ok Bridezilla, here's what you need to do.....breathe....ok....now one more time.....whew. Feel better? These men are risking their lives so you can have your little wedding. Them wanting to wear their Dress Blues, Charlies, etc is NOT that much to ask. Let them wear them.If you want colors that won't "clash", stick with blue, brown, and white.

ok i think its great that your fiance wants to wear his dress blues. the best man in the charlies is no, if he wants to wear his dress blues thats fine. charlies would look awful at a wedding. So put all the groosmen in tuxes! if the best man doesn't want to wear dress blues he can wear a tux!!! he can be a bit different if he has a different color vest! the dress blues are classic so don't worry about clashing the colors too much they will look handsome.

Go with whatever colors you want! Dark blue is a pseudo-neutral (that's why jeans go with everything!) and tan is a neutral too. Besides I don't like when the wedding party is too "matchy-matchy"

I'd say just the groom wear his dress blues and best man and other grooms men wear suits. This way the groom stands out. DEFO dont let best man wear tan!How about saphire blue with silver accent? You and bridesmaids can accessorise with silver or white gold accessories. This was the colour scheme i wanted as my enagement ring is white gold with a big saphire. But my other half wanted chocolate brown suits so we have gone with brown cream and champagne. Bridesmaids are wearing champagne. He definatley looked better in the brown, with his strawberry blonde hair so i didnt mind i didnt get the saphire and silver colour scheme.Good luck and congratulationsxxx

ok... first off, the colors of the Marine Corps are Red, white and a navy blue. *Red for the blood spilled, Blue for bravery and white for Honor*. As far as wearing his Service C, technically it is a formal uniform soooo.... its up to you. Its your wedding. As far as colors go, white and blue go well together.

my husband is a marine...and we are having our church wedding this june. he is also wearing his dress blues. his buddy from the corps is standing up for him as well and is wearing his dress blues. im not sure what regulations state, but usually at a formal affair (which this is, yes?) dress blues are required. if you dont want the other guy to wear his uniform, offer to pay for his tux. often times tuxedo places will give a free tux to the groom---and since yours is wearing the uniform, maybe they will substitute it to the best man. it could be that the best man doesnt have the money, ya know?as far as colors go, dress blues are a really dark navy (almost black) and royal blue pants with a red stripe--depending on rank. what about red dresses with a black ribbon? since the ribbon is the detail, it most likely wont pick up in photos that its different than your husbands uniform.my girls are wearing black dresses with white sashes around the waist. and the civilians are wearing black tuxes with black vests. you could use red vests.just an option. good luck with whatever you choose.

Ok... first of all.. i HATE charlies, i dont think they are attractive at all. Dress blues are the best lookin uniform in the entire armed forces. But... it gives you a color option: Hubby in Blues, Best man in charlies, groomsmen in tuxes with olive green vests.Bridesmaids can be either in Green with the brown (ties the blues and the groomsmen). or... you can do the same royal blue with a khaki/brown tie. Or you an do brown/khaki dresses with either blue OR green ties. i think this is one of those times you need to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to the paint swatches. Get the colors for the blues and charlies... and see what looks good next to em. Semper Fi, i'm marryin a marine too... we're not doin a military ceremony though.

how about sage and brown and navy blue? The bridesmaids could wear sage green and brown ribbon and the rest of the groomsmen can wear navy blue to match the groom. Just my opinion.

Nothing wrong with your soon to be husband wanting to wear his dress blues.WEDDING ATTIREProbably the main distinction of a military wedding is that the bride and/or groom, as well as service members in the wedding party, usually wear their uniforms. The type of uniform depends on the style of the wedding, the time of day, the season, and most importantly, the government-issued uniform manual:Mess dress uniform is worn for both ultra-formal and formal weddings (i.e., a white or black-tie affair). For most branches, this means a dark-blue uniform, but during the summer months, the army and navy men may wear white pants.Class-A or Service dress uniform is appropriate at a semiformal event (comparable to a suit). Like the Mess dress uniforms, these are also dark-blue and sometimes with white pants. The bride and bridesmaids can wear their uniforms (if applicable) but many military brides opt for a traditional white wedding gown. Bridesmaids might wear navy bridesmaids' gowns to complement the colors of the men's uniforms, or any other color dress the bride prefers. If any of the groomsmen are members of a different service than the groom (Army instead of Navy, for example), they simply wear a uniform of comparable formality to his. The groom and best man do not wear gloves because they will be handling the rings, but the other ushers wear white gloves throughout the ceremony. Boutonnieres are never worn with uniforms; instead, officers wear their military decorations.Should the fathers of the bride or groom be active or retired officers, they may wear uniforms. So may mothers, although they usually choose to wear traditional mother-of-the-bride attire.Any non-military wedding-party members simply wear traditional wedding clothes of the same level of formality as those in uniform.Military guests (active or retired) may wear their uniforms or traditional formal attire. For a black- or white-tie affair, put "Mess dress uniform invited" on the invites to request that your guests come in uniform. For a semiformal wedding put either "Class A uniform invited" or "Service dress uniform invited." http://farm1.static.flickr.com/234/520385068_96caff557f.jpg?v=0http://farm1.static.flickr.com/219/465100510_f30dbb7a2e.jpg?v=0

Hi and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!Personally, I love the dress blues uniform. I think it is very elegant. I would have BOTH the groom and the best man in the blue uniform (have your groom talk to his best man). It's your wedding...not his (best man)...so you get to pick the colors. Have the other groomsmen in similar blue colored suits. That will look nice. For the bridesmaids....really anything would go. It depends on what colors YOU like. ~ A light blue? Here is an example...(not the dress), just the color:http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=2ace6cf5-9f1c-4d5e-9097-65cc82575025&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=0Or...you could go with a yellow (or gold/champagne):http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=8c6fc959-d9de-4606-8700-ab7f66854563&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=0A light colored lavender or a pink would also look good. Really...there are so many colors that look good with dark blue. Click on the alfred angelo link and you will see all the colors and the possiblities!Good luck!

Im a navy wife. I would have the best man wear his dress blues. For your colors, I would pick red, gold, navy blue, shades of white. Have your brides maids in a lighter shade of navy with a gold or red ribbon under the bust. I hope this helps. Good luck.
