When you add RSVP cards to your invitation when should you ask for the replied card back? My wedding is June 21, 2008 and I am unsure when I should set the day for the RSVP cards to be to us by. Also, what is necessary for them to say? Any cute ideas? THANKS!

Add two weeks to the day that your caterer has given you for final numbers, this will give you time to chase up final stragglers if you need to.

Well, this is where you need the date the caterer has given you that he/she needs the final guest count by. What you do is take that date, the date you need to know FOR SURE who is and is not coming, and start working backwards. If you're having a smaller wedding, say under 100 guests or so, you can ask for them back about a week or 2 before you need that final number given to the caterer. But, if you've invited several hundred guests, then you're going to have to give yourself time to call or contact those who don't send back the response card (yes, many won't even send them back). In that case, give yourself at least 2 weeks, sometimes even 3 or 4 weeks. What they need to say is again, dependent upon what you're doing for dinner. If you're offering guests a choice of entree, then you should have them indicate which they want on their response card. If not, you can simply have it say something like:M/M ____________ kindly accepts the invitation to the wedding. We will bring ______ guests.

If your wedding is scheduled for June 21, 2008 than use June 1, 2008 as your "please respond by" date. Why? Because there will still be RSVPs trickling in after the due date, no matter what date you use . . . PLUS a three week time period will give you plenty of time to organize and construct a seating chart, if you are making one. And also, your caterer will need a head count at least 7 - 14 days in advance of your wedding date.Just a note of caution and a few things to keep in mind . .There are people who just NEVER return their RSVP cards even if you drive them to the post office. They just can't be bothered, it's not that important. There will be people who respond YES and do not attend the wedding or the reception. There will be people who respond YES, and then only attend the ceremony. There will be people who respond YES, and then only attend the reception. There will be people who respond NO and show up (they changed their minds). If you are wondering what to do about those people who have not returned the RSVP cards by June 1, and there will be plenty of people, here's what to do . . Make ONE phone call, and say to that person, FIRMLY AND POLITELY, "Are you coming to my wedding and reception? yes or no, I need an answer NOW." Do not accept the answer, "I'll have to get back to you." Why? Because they have already had several weeks to respond. These are the people who probably should not have been invited to begin with because your wedding is not that important to them or they are waiting "for something better to come along."Answered by: A Certified wedding specialist / A Professional bridal consultant / A Wedding ceremony officiant

Mine is June 20th!!!OK what you do is, find out when you need Numbers in to the wedding sites.Lets say the numbers are due May 23rd, 2008.You WILL have people forget to RSVP or lose the card or what not, so make the RSVP date a week prior, so the RSVP date will be May 16th. Or May 9th so you have two weeks to get on everyone's case who has not RSVP'd.So, send out the invitations NO LATER THAN April 4th.If you have a lot of out of town/area guests, send it out March 1st, that way they have time to reserve hotels and get time off of work.
