First, college is very important for you. How else are you going to be successful in life? I mean, you can play music, and you want to be an "artist", but the reality is not everyone makes it, and sometimes those very same people end up working at a fastfood restaurant or at some retail store at minimum wage. If you love photograhy and music, then you can major in it. Whatever it is you want t do in life, getting a college degree will bring you a step closer. I mean, try college, and if somewhere along the line, you have a big hit and suddenly makes tons of money overnight, then you can quit college and pursue your life long dream, but you probably won't have that, so go to college. You'll be helping yourself as well as the people around you who wants you to succeed. You can get a degree in music and makes musical jingles for commercials orwork in the entertainment industries making background music, so its better than nothing. Please go to college, a community college even. it is not a waste of time, those who says it is are dropouts.

College is never a waste of time if you consider that you're learning and that, really, is what life seems to be about. However, you have to decide what you want to be/do and what you need to do it. It doesn't sound like you're particularly firm in your ideas of what you want from life. One of the advantages of going to a college or university is that you get to try out lots of new things without being totally on your own yet. You might find something there that becomes your life's passion. Then again, you could be like me: I went in not knowing what I wanted to do, and that's how I graduated. I just liked too many things and couldn't settle on one. I did some theater work during the economic downturn of the early 90s and then went back to grad school to get a specific degree that would lead to a specific kind of job. It took me quite a while to figure it out. However, in no way was college a waste of time for me. I learned a lot of interesting stuff in classes, I met a lot of strange and unusual people, and I learned more than I probably wanted to know about myself.Good luck as you face this decision. And remember, you live in a country that will allow you to change your mind many times. I have students in my classes (I teach in a community college) in their teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. In other countries, that wouldn't be possible.

College is one of the most important life events in your life, first being born into the world. If your having difficulty on deciding to go to college or not, I'd talk with your guidance counselor. Not everybody back then didn't go to college, so it was easier to get in. Today, everybody basically goes to college to "fit-in" to the our society, but you shouldn't stop there. Excel yourself to get a bachelors or masters.

In college:*you can learn to be a better guitarist*you can learn standard ways composition*you can learn how to arrange music that incorporates other instruments*you can practice writing in more depth, and being challenged by teachers with high expectations*art history*techniques for film and photographyAre those things you want to learn? You will also get to expand your horizons beyond the town(s) you grew up in, and make new friends, and either settle firmly into your life goals or decide on a new track (it happens).College is important both in what it teaches you academically and the preparation it gives for the future, as well as allowing kids to be kids for a little longer. Maybe you want to try not going to college for a year, to see where life takes you, but apply first to colleges and defer for a year, or apply during your year off. And if you do have those sorts of doubts, go to a state school, where you won't be spending a fortune on an education you don't think that you need.
