i am throwing a bridal shower for one of my best friends. i was thinking about having a dress up theme shower but i dont know what theme to pick and what should i have the guests dress up as..her theme for the wedding is fall with fall colors like orange, brown, red, and yellow.i was also thinking about an alice and wonderland theme like have a tea party and have people mismatch and make her wear the alice costume. or maybe thats too childish.. i dont know what do you think?

A tea party is a fun bridal shower theme. You can make kits for each of the guests that would include dress-up items such as a hat, feather boa, gloves, costume jewelry and anything else you can think of. If you're having the shower at your home, set-up a photo area as well, where guests can sit together and take fun photos with the future bride. Hang a backdrop (a sheet), place a couch in front and you've got an impromtu photo shoot.You can personalize a tea party in other ways as well. Custom, floral tablecloths/runners, floral napkins and plate stands with sandwiches/scones can work as centerpieces.Have fun!

A tea party sounds fun. Here's some other themes:Around The House - Each guest is assigned a room of the house and brings a gift to be used in that room. Around the Clock - Ask each guest to bring a gift related to a certain time of day; the more times you assign, the wider the variety of gifts for the lucky bride. Ethnic Theme - Asian, Hawaiian, Mexican.

I personally like the theme parties; Stock the Bar; or the Kitchen theme where everyone brings a favorite recipe with all the ingredients and cookware to make it;

There is almost nothing too childish for a bridal shower.This is their last chance to be a giddy child before the next day when they start a family.We once had pantie party for the bride and she got lots of new panties as well as pots and pans. people bring what they want her to have. A theme is fun tho. I went to a "Pirate of the Caribbean" themed party and the "captain"( her dad )kidnapped the bride to be....( just took her home she was trashed lol) and the other pirates( the best man and groomsmen) collected a ransom and the Captain( Dad) gave her back the next day at 1:00 in the afternoon in the First Baptist Church. We all had a blast and drank Champagne out of plastic swords with the tips cut off !

A theme is a great idea, but I would advise against requesting the guests to dress up.Since you suggested Alice in Wonderland, why not make it a Mad Hatter Tea Party shower. Themes make it easy to decorate and create favors for, but asking the guests to dress up is crossing the cheesy line!Good luck!

unless all the guests will be willing and able to participate, i think you should just keep it simple. if it's a small private gathering of friends then a theme is fun. but if it is a shower with all of the female invited guests of the wedding, you need to consider all back rounds and ages of the guests. it may be a bust. you don't want people to feel obligated to participate, or feel left out if they didn't participate.how about a simple sunday brunch with pretty potted mums for the centerpieces to keep with the fall theme.
