It's my best friend's brother's wedding (I don't know them directly), and it's a 4 hour drive. I'll be singing two songs plus Mass parts. They are providing me with food and a place to stay.

Definitely add in the cost of your gas to and from the location as gas is expensive! On top of that, just decide what the time that you will spend preparing, traveling and performing is worth to you. Then, talk to the bride and groom about it and negotiate a price that is fair.

I have never heard of anyone charging to sing at a wedding where they are friends with the family.I personally think it would be tacky to accept payment for singing. If they offer, let them reimburse you for the gas. But, I would not let them do that, either. You can consider it your wedding gift to the couple.

We have been quoted for in New Orleans for a one hour mass around $200-250. These ladies are professional vocalist with CD's on the market. You could charge them the amount for gas too in addition to the $200.

I've sung for several weddings, and I do not charge friends or family. ever. For people I don't know, $100. That was the amount that my voice coach suggested.

I wouldn't charge since they are feeding you and giving you a place to stay. However, they will probably offer you some money and if they do offer you, say $100 or so, then say Thank you so much, I am honored to be a apart of your day!

When you agreed to sing, that would have been the appropriate time to quote them a price. Since they are already providing you with food and lodging, they may think that is their "payment."But anyways, you should charge by your experience. Have you sang at a wedding before? If not use this one as starter to build up your resume.

Are you a professional soloist? If so, then travel expenses, room and board, plus no less than $300. If you are not a professional, then probably between $100 and $150. (If they say that is a lot of money for 2 songs plus Mass parts, you can explain that it also covers the time spent to practice and learn the songs they requested.)P.S. Have you already agreed to sing without talking about the fee? If so, then you are stuck without getting paid. You will get food and a place to stay. If you haven't agreed, then explain to them room, board, travel expenses and the fee. They might decide they would prefer someone else, which is their choice.

They will probably give you a "gift" envelope anyways for being part of the wedding. I wouldn't charge if they are friends and providing you with room and board.
