We really wanted a particular guitarist in our area to play at our wedding, but he is booked on that day Sad We didn't really think about a specific song ~ just wanted this guy to play his original stuff.Well, since he is booked, we have been looking at other guitarists. We have found one we like, but have *no idea* what we want him to play. Any suggestions? We want something that is folksy and a little upbeat ~ not fast or anything, but not super slow or traditional either. Again, this has to be something that will sound good on a single acoustic guitar. We want to stay away from country music, classical, r&b.We tend to like blues, folk, bluegrass (& older country), 80's alternative...

Listen to Love Song by Tesla-it has a gorgeous guitar intro at the beginning of it-before the singer sings. I wanted that but my parents were very traditional and had the WE PAID FOR THIS. I wish I had gone with my heart.

Here's some great suggestions--this site has many different genres of music to choose from. Also, if you've got someone chosen already--talk with him. A musician may have limitations on what he/she can play--you don't want to ask him to play something that's beyond his skill level. Of course, if he's professional, anything should work, but if he's done weddings before, he should have some good ideas for you.Oops!!! Guess it helps to actually put the site in, huh?http://www.wedalert.com/songs/ceremony/index.asp

A really beautiful song is a Dixie Chicks song called Lullaby. I know you wanted to stay away from a country song, but it has more of a bluesy feel, and is just lovely. Good luck with the wedding
